Thanks, Rizu C: It scored highest in the round. Next up: a theme based on Pokemon of the "Mineral Egg Group". Time to visit Bulbapedia and pray for some inspiration.

Wooo, okay... Update time!
Malory, Gym Leader of Kanoa
For a spriting tournament I'm entered, the theme was "Spring", so I made a Grasshopper. GRASPRING Bug/Grass GRASPRING are very social creatures, and often have playful competitions to see who can jump the farthest. Their cape-like wings are rigid and immobile, but allow GRASPRING to glide short distances, furthering their jump. Upon evolution, their wings become mobile. When they jump, their legs make a distinct 'chirp' sound.
For the second round of the tournament, we were assigned two types to make a sprite of. I got Grass/Flying. VOLLEAF Grass/Flying VOLLEAF are timid bird Pokemon, with leaf-like wings. Their feathers and leaves allow for perfect camouflage among treetops. The females have longer feathers on their head, which tend to curl upwards at the back. In times of scarce food supply, they dig their root-like legs into the ground for nutrients. However, they generally prey on common insects and berries, so this is very rare.
Dark Type Trainer Card - Rocket Executives theme
Pokemon From The Mineral Egg Group Theme - Iron Island Partner subtheme
"Your Card Has Been Hit By An Attack" theme - Tournament Final I decided to use Spider Web, a non-damaging attack in order to make my card stand out. I then built the template, and found that Bugsy would be the perfect subject for such a card :3 I think this is probably my favourite card I've ever made.
"Sleek, Spoon, Sponge" Prompt - Tournament Final The other half of the final was to make a card out of these three words. Random, I know! So I kinda just threw this ugly thing together at the last minute and it turned out to be the best one of the round. :3 Sweet!
I ended up coming in second in the tournament :3 Here's hoping I can come first in the spriting one I'm in right now!

You never cease to amaze me, Jake. I definately love the Bugsy card, it looks totally sticky and icky and spider-web like. Also liking the Rocket Execs mugshots. Very menacing. =D

Thanks guys! I'm really happy with Graspring and Volleaf. I'm not very experienced with scratch spriting (well, fully-scratching, at least. I can do small bits here and there as necessary so full scratches are very new to me!).
Anyways, I'm working on a few different things right now, but here's the only one I've got finished.
"Create a New Gym Leader" theme. I went the Egyptian Route and here's where I ended up! Geb Jabari, The Desert Prince.

Jeez, that's incredible! *A* You emulate the art style used in the actual game sprites so very well. The badge looks cool, and I like Jabari's design! 8> Lovely work as usual~

The Bugsy card is amazing and so is the Jabari card, you're really quite good at trainer cards. -continues eyeing Bugsy's card in amazement-

PREHISTORIC LAPRAS WHAAAAAAAAAT that is cool haha And yeah, you're right... I think they're supposed to be Asian , but they are all so white. :C! I never even thought about this before but hot damn. Poor Brock, too, they just tried to use the shading to make him look darker overall, despite his whitened skin-tone. Boooooooooo! GO JABARI, YOU SHOW THEM WHITIES *shot*

I want Lapras! Noooww~!
Also, I think that's actually Forrest, not Brock. Y'know, the eldest child minus Brock? Amiriteoramirite? But yeah, way to mock MJ, with the "bleach/white-wash skin" fad, people!

Volteal, the Electric Eel Pokémon
Types: Water/Electric Ability: Volt Absorb/Water Absorb Data: VOLTEAL live primarily in oceans, however small colonies have been known to migrate to rivers which are near power plants. They have a unique structure on their foreheads which is tough as steel and releases electrical current, and often VOLTEAL will butt-heads to see who can create the strongest current. Their tails are tipped with a heavy black stinger, which is often the aim of poachers.
Some of you will probably remember this from Kanoa's April Fool's Promotion from 2008. There was a chance to use it in two contests on Neoseeker -- A Pokémon that lives in the ocean, a reef, or a river; and a serpentine body type Pokémon -- so I fixed it up a bit and threw it in. Good enough.
Oh, and no, that's not Forrest. That's Brock. From HG/SS. He's the Pewter Gym Leader, not his brother.

lol, i remember that promo... i figured out it was fake when i took a good look at this sprite: not that's it's a bad sprite, but i was like "really? they expect us to believe that one of the Pokémon they're putting on kanoa is a mightyena with a torterra tree on it?"

Lulz, well that Promotion was thrown together pretty quickly. That one was actually a sprite I made for a friend, which was a fusion of Vulpix and Mightyena - his two favourite Pokemon - and last minute I needed something that looked like a last-stage Grass Starter so I threw a tree on it and a slap of paint and called it a day. xD;

In all honesty it's pretty hard to explain trainer card making x3;;; I wish I knew how. If I did, I would be happy to share it. It's mostly a trial-and-error thing, kinda like all art.
And you can get a Prehistoric Lapras in two easy ways! First, call the 1-800 number at the bottom of your screen (call within the next five minutes to receive an exclusive Magikarp - a 50 dollar value - absolutely free!), or think of it and nothing else when you go to sleep and the Prehistoric Lapras Fairy will swap your little brother for a Prehistoric Lapras and make your brother work in a coalmine always and for eternity!
