C L O V E R My bones are made out of ivory And my blood is made out of ocean waves He had just come in on a boat. It had been a strange and sickening experience (he just barely kept his lunch down!), but now that he had arrived in this region and set his feet down on solid ground, he had bounced back with surprising speed. As soon as he got a chance, he kicked off his shoes and put on a grin as wide as the ocean. He was in a new, beautiful place and he intended to make the most of it.
Clover had never really gotten the chance to really sea the ocean before (and since he was sea sick on the way here, he couldn't look), but now that he did, he was in awe. It was so beautiful! The water was so blue, just like the sky but deeper, and the sun shining on the water was just amazing...
He sat, just watching, for a very long time. It wasn't until he noticed all the couples and all the people with pokemon that he started to feel lonely. His smile slowly faded and he looked around, feeling the loneliness creeping in, and he slowly got to his feet and pulled on his sneakers (labs were proper places, weren't they?) and started to make his way to the lab (which he did by following a pair of people who were talking rather loudly about getting their first pokemon).
Clover, as he walked through the town, was finding that this place was large, but not too bad. He liked the buildings and it overall seemed very nice, but the smile that was on his face was small and tentative. He had his arms wrapped around his chest, and when he finally got to the lab--hanging back for about thirty minutes after the people in front of him left--he was having second thoughts.
He knew nothing of what was behind those double doors. It could be anything! After a few hesitant moments, he bit his lips, and pulled himself to his feet. He walked slowly up the stairs and mimicked what the people before him did and knocked.

The double doors quickly opened shortly thereafter, a seemingly eager, red-haired man in a lab coat stood in front of a Vespiquen who seemed to be rather annoyed at something. "Hello!" He grinned widely, grabbing Clover's hand and giving it an exaggerated handshake. "Welcome to the lab, come in, come in!"
The inside of the lab was very tidy, and essentially divided into two areas - an entrance/reception type area, and the research area in the back. A large, rounded desk sat off to the side with a computer and several filing cabinets and the like. And then it all came clear. There were at least three mugs emptied of their coffee on the desk where Cillian was sitting moments before. It would appear he was trying to beat his fatigue, and so far, so good.
"I'm Cillian! Professor Aspen is out but I can help you with whatever you need." He pointed to a small screen which hung upon the wall. "I'm assuming you're here for a starter, right? Right. Right, so these are the options we have available." The man talked a mile a minute (something he had always done when he wasn't sleeping) about each of the options. "Iglora evolves into Terrador eventually which is like a big, awesome dinosaur... And Firecub is a popular choice because it's a fire lion which is just cool... Seaward has a really cool voice, and it likes to sing a lot but sometimes they give me a headache but it might just be a side effect from all the coffee and stuff. Oh! And we have four other options which change everyone once in a while." He went on to describe Ekans, Glameow, Growlithe and Natu in a less-than-informative way.
"And finally, if none of those pique your interest, we can also give you an Egg." His voice grew slightly faint as he walked back behind a book shelf and returned with an egg in his hands. "Just like this one. You don't get to choose what's in it, so that's all up to chance. So have you decided?" The Vespiquen rolled her eyes and rubbed her face. Indeed, it was tiring having to watch over Cillian, and even moreso when he got a hold of the coffee.

C L O V E R I was sleeping in the lilies, Or was I up all night? He held his breath as the door opened. He wasn't sure what to expect, and in truth, was a little afraid. He also knew that if his parents knew what was happening right now, knew what he was about to do, they would disown him. He had already run away and left them in his past, but he still thought of his family lovingly.
Now was not the time to think about that, though. He kept his face pleasant and tried to look as polite and friendly as he could, "Oh, um, thank you!" He stepped hesitantly into the lab. It was about then that he noticed the Vespiqueen and his smile broadened considerably. He waved energetically at her, but his attention slid back to the aid.
Clover was listening carefully to Cillian (he almost wanted to inform the aid that it was a rather strange name and ask what his parents were thinking, but he felt like that wasn't a good idea), but he didn't absorb much of what was said. He talked so fast!
He didn't say anything for a moment, then asked, "I can choose?" He had been expecting to take just whatever the lab wanted to get rid of or had extra of. He had been one hundred percent ready to take whatever he was given!
Chewing on his lower lip, Clover took a moment to think about that. He didn't recognize most of the names Cillian had thrown out; he only knew what Ekans and Growlithe were. He had only seen an Ekans once, wrapped tightly around a Pikachu, while the rodent pokemon tried desperately to free itself. Growlithe, on the other hand, he remembered from his encounter with the Officer Jenny. It had been regal, loyal, and was very beautiful. Clover decided that he would go with that one.
"Growlithe, then! I met one of those once--so nice! And pretty, too, you know their fur? So nice!" His bright, happy smile returned and he found that once he had said it, he really did want a Growlithe.

"Oh, good choice! They're Fire-types, you know. Rather friendly for the most part." His Vespiquen quickly made her way to a bookshelf near her owners' desk and began grabbing the appropriate items. "You'll need a Fire Stone to evolve it into an Arcanine, if you want to evolve it, that is." Cillian had a terrible habit of rambling. "Morwen, hand it over already!" With a notable sigh of annoyance toward her owner, the Vespiquen handed the items of a Starter Pack to Clover, followed by a typical red and white Pokeball which held a Growlithe.
Congratulations! Clover received a Growlithe and a Starter Pack!

C L O V E R I was sleeping in the lilies, Or was I up all night? Though there was the underlying nervousness of becoming a trainer--all he could do was think of his mother's reaction--he still felt his excitement growing. He wouldn't be lonely any more and he would have his very own pokemon to take care of!
Clover was beginning to fidget he was so excited. As the starter pack and pokeball were handed to him, his hands were shaking, and he was grinning so wide it almost hurt. "Thank you so much!"
He stepped back, unsure of what to do next. He stood, just grinning and holding his newly acquired possessions, before he finally burst out with a promise. "I promise to take the very best care of it!"
Again he stood, nervously, looking between the aid and the Vespiqueen. After hearing the closing remark, though, he decided it would probably be best to leave and start this whole training thing. After muttering a second, less audible "thank you," he darted out of the building, brimming with excitement.
[ lol I obviously had no idea what to type ]
