A faint clicking sound would be heard by anyone walking past the closed bedroom door of the 18-year-old girl. Inside, she was bending over a laptop, with a minisule screwdriver in her hands and a pair of glasses on the edge of her nose. Most of the time, she could manage without her glasses and indeed, refused to wear them a lot of the time. However, she was working on something quite late in the day, or rather early, so her eyes were already blurry, and her contraption she was working on was very small.
She seemed to be installing some type of device to her computer. She was planning on taking this computer with her on her journey. Her parents had made her promise to email them as often as possible, so it would probably be wise to get an internet connection while she was travelling. She might go days, or even weeks, without finding civilisation. Without internet. Techno smothered a shudder. In truth, she didn't really mind not emailing her parents, but the idea of more being able to research or play her video games, was an idea she wasn't too fond of.
She pushed her glasses up her nose. "Done." She muttered, to no-one in particular. She replaced the panel to the back of her object, and placed it carefully inside her travelling bag. It wasn't the most interesting of bags, but nevertheless, it would do the job. It was a large, pink rucksack. Most people, when they saw Techno, wouldn't ever think that she loved pink. She wasn't very feminine, in all honesty, despite her smashing boobs.

The next morning, she woke early and ate a rather hearty full english breakfast. She knew she'd miss her father's cooking and savoured every bite. A couple of hours later, her parents bid her a tear-filled farewell and she was off. She was getting a train to Lanorae and due to the distractions of her parents, she was going to be late. She looked at the pocket-watch she kept attached to her jeans, snarled something illegable, and started walking as fast as she could. She'd never run, despite there not being another train for at least 4 hours.
She managed to get it in time, but barely. She got on board, sighing angrily. What a brilliant start. The journey was going to be pretty long, several drawn out hours. Luckily, she'd brough several distractions to amuse herself. She got out a small, handheld gaming platform and turned it on. After beating several gym leaders, she looked at her pocket-watch again. A couple of hours had past, but there were many more to go. She groaned, before saving and turning off her game. She lifted her legs up, and tried to sleep.
She was awoken a while later, by a small boy, who couldn't have been older that 13. He was throwing bits of paper at her. She ignored it for a while, trying to recover her pleasant dreams. However, when the boy threw a pokeball at her and a scyther emerged, she stood up and glared at him. The boy was sitting behind her, with a man who looked about her age. "Excuse me.." She snarled, eyes narrowing at the young boy who was quavering slightly. "That child just launched a pokeball into my lap." She frowned, crossing her arm and not removing her fiery gaze. "If he has such a blantent disregard for his pokemon, then I shall have to reserve it for my own personal usage."
At this the scyther behind her muttered what seemed to be a threatening noise. She turned her anger to it, although she didn't say anything, her glare silenced it. It continued to rub it's elegant talons together, watching the trainer-to-be nervously. The older man sitting next to the boy turned around, and Techno felt her anger waver. He was terribly good looking.
He was much taller than her, with dark hair that reached below his shoulder blades. He was obviously older than her, or at least more experienced in life, as he had a sort of withered look behind his eyes. His skin was slightly tanned, unlike Techno's very pale skin. "I'm sorry 'bout that." He said, raising his eyebrows in apology, "My kid brother is an idiot sometimes." Techno blinked at the man, her arms still crossed but her frown gone. "Yes, I can see that." She growled, feeling herself blush slightly. "Haha, yeah. I'm seriously sorry about that. It's my scyther, by the way." Techno turned around to look at the scyther again. Indeed, it was a beautiful specimen, although it wasn't terribly powerful in appearance. "I just started my journey, got that scyther yesterday." He explained, "Toby here," He pointed at the grumpy young boy, "came with me, but I'm taking him home now. He gets really bored on these long rides." "Oh." Techno found herself distracted by the man's rather pleasant jawbone. She tried to think of something to say as she wanted to continue talking to the man, "Where do you reside from?" She asked, scratching the end of her nose. He smiled. "I'm from Lanorae, Mongolia Town. My uncle gave me this scyther, and yeah.. This is my stop."
Techno blinked again at the man. What; he was leaving so soon? She nodded nevertheless, "Oh, right. Grass and Bug leader, am I correct?" She enquired, refering to the gym leader of the town. The boy nodded, smiling, before gathering his belongings and his brother and heading towards the beeping doors. Techno hadn't even noticed the train stopping, but she looked out the winder to see a sign saying, 'Elnthim City'. She was close. The rather attractive man nodded towards her, "See ya 'round sometime, yeah?" She nodded in reply and he left the train and the little boy stuck his tongue out at her. "See ya."

No more than half an hour later, she was walking to the laboratory. It was a rather glorious looking building, so huge that it stood out greatly over the small, quaint houses of the rest of the town. She smiled as she sidled up to the door. She took a deep breath, wondering which pokemon she would request. She took a deep breath, her thoughts still slightly distracted by the boy on the train. He'd said see you later. That must mean he wants to see me again. Right? She thought, frowning. Despite being incredibly intelligent in acedemic matters, relationships just threw her off completely.
She shook her head. Time to deal with the task at hand. She raised an arm, knocking carefully three times on the door. She waited patiently for someone to open it, and peered around the area. How exciting.

[ O u t of C h a r a c t e r ] Sorry for the wait D= Haven't been feeling my best

It had been a rather slow morning so far at the Konika Village lab. Most of the initial 'trainer rush' for the warming summer had come in the past week or so, and only a few stragglers were appearing in the mornings compared to the dozens that had come once it had been announced that the resident lab was now registering trainers for the Lanorae gym run. Most likely pulled in by the unique species that were native to the fairly 'new' region, aspiring trainers had of course flocked to the seaside town in hopes of claiming one of the new creatures for themselves. Really it was simply a 'fad', as it had been with the discovery of new species in Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh, but it was a fad that certainly caught the attention of many people.
Even researchers had become more and more common in the region, as could be seen by the sheer number of 'researcher trainees' and lab aides that could be found under the employment and teachings of the resident head of Pokemon research for the region, Professor Morwen Aspen. Fortunately such help did allow the renowned professor to slip off on her own when she saw fit, much to the dismay to many of her older, more experienced aides.
Again was such a time, for the professor had again vanished without a trace, taking what seemed to be only a few sketch pads and notebooks with her while she left her lab in the care of her two Pokemon, whom had decided to remain with her after her career as a trainer was over, and her numerous aides.
"What a time for the professor to leave..." a woman moaned, leaning against the main desk in the lab lobby as she put a hand to her forehead, clearly distressed. "Those papers on our study of the Iglora line's behaviour are due to the main institute and yet they're nowhere to be found! Ugh!"
"Chatot!" a rather colourful bird Pokemon was perched atop a nearby bookcase, feathers fluffed out in every which way as he looked up in plain annoyance. Apparently he had been grooming himself and had been disturbed by the teal-haired woman's outburst of frustration. Who cared about papers! He had his appearance to worry about.
However, another Pokemon didn't seem to share the parrot's views, for a white creature suddenly materialized next to the young woman, a smaller, dog-like Pokemon positioned between the two ice crystals that crowned the spirit's head. '<Perhaps I can be of assistance...>' the white creature mused. To those not experienced in pokespeak, the Froslass' voice would appear to be merely a rousing scale of ethereal, melodic song. However, the woman in question seemed to have managed to translate the tone rather efficiently.
'<You'd think you'd know to ask the professor's own Pokemon, sheesh...>' the small blue dog Pokemon piped up, flicking her tail as she fixed the woman with her playful crimson stare. '<We aren't dumb you know!>'
"No of course you aren't Ria!" the woman exclaimed, clearly quite taken aback by the Riolu's statement. "I never thought you were, it just slipped my mind that the professor might have told you. Now, you know where the papers are Kiana?" she turned her gaze to the Froslass, which nodded and opened her mouth to reply, however was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"By Arceus, of course we get a visitor now!" the woman exclaimed, standing up straight as she strode quickly to the door, her high-heeled boots clicking loudly against the tile. She paused and pulled one of the double doors open, adjusting her half-moon glasses which sat before her teal eyes as she did so. "Um, hello and welcome to the Konika Village lab, Professor Aspen isn't in right now. I'm Lillian Carbunkle, one of her aides, please call me Lily, now what may I do for you?"She spoke in a rather hurried, well-practiced tone, the Froslass and the Riolu that was perched atop the ice spirit's head looking on curiously.

ooc; Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. ]: I've had people staying at my house and I've been completely museless. Forgive me! bic;
The female looked around the surrounding area as she waiting for someone to answer the door. The weather was actually quite pleasant, though it was probably too warm for her own liking. Grass types would no doubt be wandering about enjoying the sunshine.
She drew her attention away from the flowers she'd been looking, instead peering at the door with her eyes unfocused. She was concentrating on the noises within. She could hear what appeared to be a squawking sound, probably a bird of some sort. It was followed by an indistinct growl of human speak, however the door was evidently so thick that she was unable to hear the speech. A few moments later a melodic tune drifted to her ears causing her to ponder over it's source.
Techno, despite her intelligence, could not understand pokemon for the life of her. She hoped it would improve, as she'd heard about from other trainers, but she wasn't entirely sure. In her eyes, the noises that pokemon made were almost indifferent to those of animals. She continued to wait as the conversation inside continued.
Perhaps they didn't hear me... Techno thought, frowning at the thought. They should get an alarm system or something. Like a doorbell, but more high-tech. The female would find it simple to create such a mechanism and decided she would do the same when she was the professor of her own region.
Eventually, just as Techno was about to knock again, the door was swung open by a teal haired woman, introducing herself as 'Lilian Carbunkle', one of the professor's aides. Techno studied the woman for a few moments, searching her appearance and speech, readying herself a judgement over the women. The woman seemed somewhat flushed, but she didn't seem too bad.
When she announced that the professor was not there, Techno couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. She'd been hoping to talk to her, perhaps compare notes. The blue haired girl sighed softly, before turning her attention to the pokemon inside. There was a riolu, the prevolution of lucario and a froslass, a rather elegant pokemon that she was somewhat fond of. She wanted one some day.
That reminded her of her mission. "Ahh. Yes, I'm looking for a starter pokemon." She smiled at the aide, although it was obviously not very sincere. "My name is Techno and I have the intention of being a professor. I feel that the best way to accomplish this is to train pokemon for a while and find out about them in a way that will help trainers. I have familarised myself with the starters you give out, as much as one came with actually seeing them anyway. I am particulary interested in Iglora and Firecub." She took a breath as she'd been talking quite fast, "Would it be possible to see them both?"

[ O u t of C h a r a c t e r ] Lol and likewise I apologize ^^;
[ B a c k in C h a r a c t e r ]
As Lillian introduced herself her teal eyes quickly skimmed over the appearance of the girl that stood before her. She was a bit older than most trainers that started out, that was for sure, but she seemed to carry herself like a rather intelligent individual. This was a good sign; so many trainers that started as soon as possible generally didn't finish schooling, older trainers were normally an indication that they had remained behind to finish some sort of education... or they had just procrastinated but the female aide preferred to think it was the first.
"Ahh. Yes, I'm looking for a starter pokemon. My name is Techno and I have the intention of being a professor. I feel that the best way to accomplish this is to train pokemon for a while and find out about them in a way that will help trainers. I have familarised myself with the starters you give out, as much as one came with actually seeing them anyway. I am particulary interested in Iglora and Firecub. Would it be possible to see them both?"
A warm smile immediately touched Lillian's features as the woman explained her intentions. Another individual that was aspiring to pursue the aspect of Pokemon research! How exciting this was, it was definitely a rare thing to find anymore. Most new trainers normally left in search of adventure or power, not in hopes of learning about the aspect they were pursuing. In fact, most people didn't even realize they were following a path that held so much probability in study and research.
"Ah! Another young woman that's eager to follow the path Professor Aspen herself took!" Lillian chimed up happily. "About time too, it will definitely be a nice change to have someone out in the region that can call us up with any new discoveries, if that's what you want to do of course. Really it's considered good training for the research aspiration." She stepped aside, pushing the door open wider so Techno could come in if she wished to.
"Yes, Morwen, or Professor Aspen, was quite the trainer around sixteen years ago, up until her son was born." She nodded at the Froslass and Riolu that were examining the new arrival curiously. "Those two are her closest Pokemon. Ignore the Chatot... he's mine and quite a nuisance... anyway, enough of my talk, Firecub and Iglora you said?"
She left her position at the door, waving at Techno to follow. "Most of our Pokemon are in the refuge out back. They stay much happier if they aren't cramped up in their Pokeballs all the time. Not many people are allowed back here unless it's to see one of their own Pokemon, but considering you're interested in the researching field I can make an exception." She winked, adjusting her glasses as walked through the numerous shelves of bookcases and through a door in the back area of the lab.
