As Tobias walked onto the High Prairie he started to feel the cool breeze wash over him. Man, this place is great! The weather is perfect, and there's both water and grass land. Remembering his new Pokemon, Tobias reached into his bag and pulled out the Pokeball he had received. He pressed the button in the center to allow the Iglora to come out.
The grass type looked up at Tobias and gave a little smile. Tobias looked at the Pokemon with a wide grin. Hello, I'm your new trainer. My name's Tobias. Would you be alright if I called you Iggy? The Iglora nodded, then put her hand on Tobias's leg, made an odd sound, then ran a little ways away. At first Tobias was confused. Then he realized that the Pokemon just wanted to play 'tag'. Oh, no you don't! With that, Tobias ran after the grass type.

As some clouds began to gather above, the Pokemon of the route began to disperse hither to their hiding places as they sensed the usual fast paced oncoming rain. To the scattered Pokemon that looked on it seemed that the Iglora was rather good at the game; its strong legs perfectly adapted for such a feat. After all, running and jumping were things the species was known for, and yet, despite the seemingly large disadvantage the game seemed to be rather fun.
A light rain began to descend upon the route, enveloping it in darkness. Many Pokemon of the route are rather frightened of rain, the big tree near by could make for a good shelter as well as an encounter...

Indeed, Iggy did seem quite adept at playing the game, but Tobias was able to catch her a few times. That could have just her being nice, however. As it started to drizzle a little, Tobias started move a little slower, enjoying the feel of the rain on his body. Hey Iggy, lets go stand under that tree and wait for the rain to die down a little. As much as he enjoyed the light sprinkle, he wanted to get to some shelter before the rain intensified. With a nod of agreement, the Iglora ran beside Tobias on the way to the tree.

Watching the pair run for shelter, a jealous wild Rattata watched the happy pair. Deciding it would try and teach the Pokemon a lesson, it leaped from among the bushes to lay out its challenge.

Tobias and Iggy looked at the Rattat in confusion. What did the Pokemon want. The Iglora moved in front of Tobias, just in case the other Pokemon attacked. It's probably fine, Iggy. Even if it does it attack, karma will make it lose. The grass type looked up at Tobias, she wasn't quite sure what he meant. Despite his assurance, the Pokemon stayed in front of him.

The Iglora moved to protect it's trainer, sadly all this did was further enrage the already angered Rattata. This lesson had to be served and served quickly. After a quick Focus Energy, the Rattata surged forwards with a Quick Attack.

Oddly enough, both Tobias and Iggy smiled, but for completely different reasons. Tobias smiled because the Rattata attacked first, so he had the advantage. Iggy smiled because she proved her trainer wrong, the Pokemon was hostile. With a quick jump, the grass type dodged the attack, then dove down at the rat with a Scratch attack.

The dodge served to further enrage Rattata, that combo always worked on any enemies who normally approached it in the wild. Luckily with the speed and the fact it was pumped it, the Scratch attack only managed to clip its tail for minimum damage, however, this would serve to put off its balance at times as the tail was crucial.
Deciding that perhaps a little trickery would work in it's favour, it striked back with another Quick Attack to get in close before swapping to a more solid Tackle for impact.

Iggy was just getting ready to jump out of the way of the second Quick Attack when suddenly the Rattata slowed down. Thrown off-balance, there was no way the Iglora could dodge the attack. That guy's tough, but we'll have to be tougher! Use a Growl then another Scratch. The Iglora nodded, then let out a loud groaning sound. Then she started to run at the purple rat again with her claws out.

For the first time in its life, the Rattata felt generally scared of something. After all, how often did you get charged by a roaring dinosaur!? Losing a little of its fighting prowess, the Focus Energy wore off and quite frankly Rattata was not in the mind set to pull of another.
Instead, it allowed the rampaging dino to get in close while taking another slight clipping of the claws to pull of a close range Tail Whip in the hope of tripping the running Pokemon and lowering its defences. The Rattata was beginning to feel the tide of battle, but it was far from out yet.

As the Rattata started to hit its tail on the Iglora, the grass type started to Growl that the Rattata. She did not like having the rat's tail in her face. Quick, while you're still close, use another Scratch. The swinging tail hindered her vision slightly so Iggy just started to swing wildly with her claws.

The Iglora seemed generally out of it, the tail seemed to be making good work of cutting its vision. One scratch did manage a rather direct hit, however, which severely did in Rattata. I can't keep taking hits like this! thought Rattata, once again enraged. Using this new found anger, Rattata surged forwards at close range with a Quick Attack full well knowing if it connected it would experience recoil, the damage to Iglora would be more than worth it however.

The Iglora was a little out of it from the Tail Whip attack, so the Quick Attack hit dead center. With a grunt, Iggly slid back a few feet, but managed to stay on her feet. You alright, Iggy? The grass type gave a small nod, ready to keep going. Sweet! Get it with a Scratch! The Iglora ran right at the Rattata, claws out, ready to slash at the Pokemon.

The recoil sent a shock right through its body, however, all the Rattata could do was grin. The pain meant the hit had been dead on and the Iglora would definitely be weaker, restoring a little pride to the Pokemon.
The recoil gave enough time for the Iglora to get a strike in with its claws once more, sending Rattata hurling across their little battle field. It is now or never, I must do this the honourable way concluded Rattata, standing up and making a suggestion with its paw. The Rattata was laying down another challenge, a head on collision to decide who had the most raw power within.
Rattata did not know whether Iglora could charge up or not and was certainly unknowing of its ability, Overgrow. Deciding to begin its own charging regardless, Rattata stood in its spot of falling far off to charge up a Focus Energy in the hope that the Iglora respected the old rules of a wild challenge.

[OOC] : Basically the Rattata wants to keep its honour if it falls so it called a Pokemon challenge where both may charge up before one last attack of all they can muster to see whom is victorious. With the Quick Attack it pulled off at close range I reckon it would be enough to bring Iglora to a point where it's ability Overgrow would activate and as such it would be able to charge up as well glowing green. Then they attack one another. =3

ooc: fair enough
bic: Tobias was a little confused that the Rattata ran off, but Iggy seemed to know what it was doing. Having no moves to power herself up, she sounded a loud Growl, then started running at the purple rat. While she was running, she started to glow a bright green, but she didn't seem to notice. What the heck? I heard Pokemon glow during evolution, but you can't evolve mid battle. The only other time I saw something like this was when their Chlorophyll ability activated, but Chlorophyll needs it to be sunny, and it's raining, so what's going on?

Rattata was slightly taken aback, it knew a lot of Pokemon could charge in some form but the green glow enveloping the Iglora was something else. It seemed to intensify with every step, perhaps a worthy opponent after all mulled Rattata in mid flight as it continued to keep up the pace with it's Quick Attack and the Pokemon were nearly close enough to impact. What scared Rattata was, would it be the one to emerge from the dust victorious?

ooc: isn't it kinda your choice?
bic: As the two Pokemon collided, Tobias started to run up the hill so he could get a better view. As the dust started to clear, he saw that Iggy was still standing, but she was very injured. As for the Rattata...

[OOC] : Pretty much, I just wanted to give you another post. xD
[BIC] : Rattata emerged from the dust, Iglora was standing seemingly ready for more in front of it. Thoughts swirled in his head as did the dust that stung it's eyes. Taking a step forward, the front paws gave way... it was over.
[!] You defeated Rattata! [!]Rattata[!] Rattata may now be caught! [!]Congratulations! Your Iglora gained three (3) levels!Iglora learned Bite
