Leduro was nervous. True, she often got nervous, but that was generally about stupid things and was often ressolved by some strange compulsive thing, but that was what you got for have mental issues. For once, the girl actually had a reason for being nervous, properly worried, not stupid panicy I-must-touch-the left-side-of-that-door-because-I-just-touched-the-right-side kind of nervous. She managed a small smile, touching the violin case across her back for comfort. The girl could hardly leave her prized possesion behind, after all. Her bag was a satchel style thing, slung round her neck and hanging at about her left hip. She didn't have much in there, since it wasn't exactly as if the orphanage had much stuff to offer their children. She didn't mind. She was used to that. She wasn't worried about having enough stuff for the journey. She wasn't worried about going off on her own. She wasn't even worried about how she'd do on her journey, or how her lab visit would go.
No. What she was worried about was what people would think of her. She was dressed as she would in Sinnoh- old, baggy jeans and a T-shirt with a small smiling cartoon Growlithe face on it along with a pair of old trainers. She didn't have anything else, but she had a feeling that people in Lanorae dressed rather... old fashioned. After all, this place was supposed to be pretty behind times, right? The 'region of steam' and all that. Leduro doubted girls wore jeans and T-shirts back then. Oh, well. She supposed that a variety of the people from other regions would be wearing modern clothes. Hopefully it wouldn't draw any attention, and if it did, the people in the lab would, with any luck, be kind enough to point it out for her and tell her how she could do better.
The girl's mind then wondered onto thinking how Lanorae could be so behind. After all, everywhere else had helped each other into making new advancements in technology, developing their understanding of the world and inventing electrical things, too. Here they relied on steam, which was great unless you wanted something more like, say, a computer. Still, they could have their steam and old fashioned technology if they wanted. Leduro was fine with that. The only thing she'd wondered about, and the only thing giving her doubts about starting her journey in the region she knew less about, was the fact that she didn't know whether their medical knowledge was up to scratch. She knew first aid and all that, but when someone needed a new kidney or whatever, she somehow doubted Lanorae methods would suffice. Eh, it didn't matter too much. She was healthy, and had no health problems. She should be fine. Besides, the people here seemed to get on fine.
Her thoughts- well, doubts, really- all dissolved as she saw Konika Village, picking out the laboratory quickly. They were replaced with the simple one of excitement at the prospect of having a Pokémon. Her very own Pokémon! She'd seen what the Lanorae starters were, and although she was tempted by the mystery egg option, that was a little risky when she'd decided she rather liked the look of Firecub and its evolutions. She would opt for one of those, without a doubt. She wondered how good she would be at having a Pokémon. She knew a rather lot about them, having once done work at a Pokémon Center- she knew how to restrain them, inject them, sedate them, tell if they were ill, keep them alive under sedation... the list went on. But would knowledge alone help? Her problems could end up scaring or making the 'mon dislike her... she didn't want that. No, knowledge was never completely trustworthy to put into practice.
What if this knowledge made people made fun of her? No, she told herself, You are not a boffin. You are NOT a boffin. she thought firmly, taking deep breaths as she reached the lab door. The very plain looking girl was having all sorts of nerves attacking her now, as well as various parts of her brain insisting she was incompetent at pretty much everything. Calming herself down, she reached out and knocked on the door. You are not a boffin.
"Er, hello? I'm here for my starter!" she called out loud. She was ready. Sort of.
OOC// From the opening giveaway I got an albino Firecub starter, whoever's modding this might want to know ;)
