Phineas found it hard to adjust to these new clothes. Given, he was highly fascinated by the Victorian era, but it was another thing from reading all about it and admiring the clothing style in a book than to actually wear it. Upon the advice of his sister Jeanne, the young woman having visited him prior to his departure, Phineas chose to adapt to the Lanoraen culture prior to his arrival, and she had taken him shopping in Celadon City for appropriate clothing.
And there he was now, recently changed into a stylish black combination that vaguely reminded the boy of a movie he had watched with his sister at one point. He probably needed to ask her about that, he noted mentally, tugging uncomfortably on the collar of his jacket. Nothing to worry... this was just something he needed to get used to, right?
After pushing his feet into his shoes and tying the laces, Phineas pushed himself upright and took a moment to look around the cabin he was in. For a ferry, this was actually a pretty nice one, considering it ran on steam and all. A small smile curved his lips. He really needed to get used to the difference in technology, but he was certain he would enjoy every minute of it. A metallic voice through the ancient-looking intercom announced that the ferry was to arrive in Konika Village within a few minutes, and Phineas took those last few minutes to gather his belongings. Thankfully he traveled light with only his 'regular' clothes to pack up; it wasn't long until the boy departed from the ferry and took his first few steps upon Lanorae soil.
Konika Village was unlike anything Phineas could have ever imagined. The soon-to-be trainer spent so much time staring at all these strange forms of machinery and the curious outfits many people wore (Oooh, he wanted goggles like that, too!) that he almost forgot exactly why he was here. Pokémon, right. Pale cheeks slightly red, Phineas hurried through the village, in the direction indicated by various signs all over the place: 'Konika Village Laboratory'.
As he wandered down the cobblestone pathways, hands dug deep into the pockets of his long black jacket (that was growing on him remarkably quickly. It was nice and swooshy, after all. What was there not to like?) Phineas felt his mind wander all over the place. Exactly how long ago had it been that he had walked a similar road to the Laboratory of Kanoa, and received his darling Taki? The Ekans had long evolved into an Arbok and was spending her days staying with Finn's relatives in Saffron, coiled up around the Seviper belonging to his aunt or basking in the sun outside...
He did miss his beloved serpent so. But now was not the time to feel depressed. Taki had made it clear that he should move on and make new friends, and Horatio, Berg, Cameo and Shenzi had all backed her up. Not Hotaru, though; the Butterfree was as grumpy as ever, but was reluctant to see his master go. In the end, Phineas' Houndoom, Mightyena, Dusclops and Haunter had managed to convince the butterfly to a certain degree. Phineas made a mental note to give poor little Horu something extra upon his return to Saffron.
Caught up in his thoughts, the boy barely missed the big door dooming up in front of him, quickly halting before he met the wood face-first. Taking a moment to overcome his embarrasment, Phineas rose a hand and knocked upon the door. Well, this was it then, wasn't it? Starting over... making new friends...
Phineas inhaled deeply. He was ready.
ooc// Afhgsjhkjda for a place that reopened, we're not ROLEPLAYING ENOUGH! I'M TAKING INITIATIVE.
...Plus Finny's old thread was a pain to read. Not your fault Andi, mine. I dislike how I started it.
