Sootopolis, an ancient city of Hoenn, long revered to contain the souls of unimaginable power. They sleep within the volcano's depths... unawakened by the waking world... and forbidden to be disturbed. However, while these creatures sleep, the city certainly does not.

Mingling with the humans, tourist and civilians alike, are Pokémon. They skulk through the city, living on what they can: garbage, stolen products, and wild animals. Here, the life of many Pokémon are hard ones. They have come together, long ago, as gangs, fighting to survive in the massive cement jungle that is Sootopolis. Their squabbles are well known throughout the underground world of the Pokémon, but humans are oblivious. Pokémon owned by trainers will sometimes sneak out to venture into the maze-like adventure, meeting a dangerous world they never knew was steps from the door. In Sootopolis, to live is a fight itself. Are you ready to stand up to the challenge? Welcome, to Ravaged Sootopolis.
