Andi Carly

"What? It's over already? Lame."
Andrea Carly looked out at the dock from her position on the deck. If she could, she'd just ride on boats forever; the smell of the sea and the smooth gliding over endless waves in all directions pulled her in with the strength of a thousand Ryhorns. However, this life choice might be rather expensive, let alone dirty, which made the dream an impossibility for the teenager. Not that she was disappointed; after all, she was living out a dream right now, at this very moment! Andi had just arrived in “scenic” Konika Village, where the new region’s lab could be found. And in that lab would be the one thing young Miss Carly had been thirsting for: A Pokémon to call her own. This Pokémon was a window of opportunity for the teenager, for it gave her the chance to stand out as her own person and leave behind who she once was. Who could ask for more? So, without further ado, Andi made her way off the boat and down the ramp, using over exaggerated strides for the latter, until she set foot on solid ground.
Taking in a deep breath of air, she nearly gagged; sure, she had lived in the city her whole life, but this air was hazy. Like, smog-like. Taking a glance around, Andi took in the different-shaped buildings and the new layout of the world she now had to get accustomed to. It was almost a dream come true: Somehow, the Steampunk and Brass God had swallowed her whole on that ship and spat her back out into paradise! Gears were everywhere, and everything whirred and clicked and wooshed as the life of the villagers went on. It was unlike anything she had seen before. “Weird,” she muttered under her breath, but quickly began correcting herself aloud with, “Well, not ‘weird,’ that’s mean. More… different.” The brunette received a few weird looks for the conversation with herself; but she didn’t notice, or at least let anyone know she noticed. Rather, as any typical teenager would, she reached into her bag and pulled out a black iPod. No adventure was complete without a soundtrack! Setting off down the path once more, Andi soon fell into the beat of her music and began to do a sort of skip-dance with each step. The words to the song nearly burst from her lips, slightly off-key to anyone who’d listen: “’I don't need no TV, I don't need no news. All I need is a bumping beat to bump away my blue-ue-ues~!’” The dance evolved as she carried on and got more into the song, Andi pressing her ear buds in tighter as she spun and jumped with eyes squeezed shut. Even for her, this was brash; However, Miss Carly was in a brand new land! No one knew her here! Why not make a lasting impression?
Wrapped up in her own little world, Andi nearly missed her stop. It was a wonder she wasn’t interrupted previously from a collision with someone else or by tripping over her own, checkerboard-patterned shoelaces that constantly seemed to be untied, but dumb luck was always this girl’s right-hand man. As if to enforce this, the soon-to-be-trainer opened her eyes at exactly the right moment to find Professor Aspen’s laboratory right in front of her – after a moment of dizziness, of course. “’A-boom boom boom and a-bang bang bang! Boom, bang, boom bang-bang! Boom, bang, boom-’ Whoa!!” Blinking, the tall young woman looked up at the impressive building and whistled softly. “I think I found the place.” She pulled the headphones from her ears as she ascended the steps; the last thing Andi wanted was for the professor to think she was uninterested in Pokémon! The energetic teen began to fidget after knocking on the closed doors anxiously, constantly fiddling with one of her many rings: This one was on her thumb, a silver snake curling around until it reached her knuckle. Nothing to do but to wait…[/blockquote]

Abigail was not pleased. Had she not devoted her entire day yesterday to cleaning up, scrubbing every square inch? And look how much her work was appreciated! With a soft 'hrmp' escaping her, she crossed her arms over her chest, auburn eyes scanning the corner of the laboratory that had, until yesterday when she left it, looked pristine.
Paperwork was scattered, wrappings of several dozen kinds of candy were tossed around carelessly, and Abi was pretty sure she had just stepped into some leftover lunch from yesterday. And, in the middle of the mess, head resting on top of an opened copy of 'Pokémon Biology', lay the suspect, the culprit. The usual suspect, she had to add. His mouth was opened just slightly, and judging by the small, wet stain on the page of the book, he'd been drooling over some pretty girl that had appeared to him in his dreams, no doubt. Abigail sighed. She had spared this man more than enough. Now was time for his wake-up call.
"Gaas..." she heaved, pounding on her chest with her massive fists, the action alone causing several sheets of paper on the desk to quiver, "Kangas-KHAAAAAN!"
"UWAAH! Holy crap, ABIGAIL!"
Obviously awake, Wade sat straight up in his chair, having managed to scoop up the huge encyclopaedia with him which he was now hugging to his chest like a plush toy. His brownish-blond hair seemed to be more of a mess than usual, his laboratory coat stained and littered with crumbs of various kinds of cookies. All in all, Wade looked as usual; horrible and probably hungover. It was obvious from the way his Kangaskhan glared at him that she was quite mad with him, and as always, Wade tried to avoid her wrath for a few more seconds.
"Do you want to wake Whistler or something?!" he hissed, his voice soft as he indicated the bulge in the mother-Pokémon's pouch. Abigail followed the man's hand, looking down briefly before glaring up once again, her arms crossed over her chest.
"...Not buying it at all, are you?"
"Khan."
Before the man could admit defeat to his Pokémon, however, as a quick knock on the door disrupted the silence that had fallen between them. Seeing the opportune moment for a getaway, Wade rose from his chair, dropping the Pokémon book on his desk and sweeping the crumbs and leftovers from his coat as he approached the door. He wasn't incredibly content with having to help aspiring trainers all the time (You didn't have to work here for all that long to realize that most people that came knocking were looking to start their journey, really; this was probably one of those cases yet again), but if it meant postponing the agony and pain Abigail had in store for him, he'd gladly help out the poor soul at the door...
After his fingers curled around the doorknob and twisted it, the door opened to reveal a young woman fidgeting anxiously with her jewellery on the doorstep. Wade scratched the back of his neck, briefly looking over his shoulder back at Abigail before looking back at the girl, having received a menacing glare from the Kangaskhan.
"'Ello, welcome to Professor Aspen's Pokémon laboratory," he said, putting on a charming smile as he opened the door further, motioning for Andi to step inside. "Unfortunately, Professor Aspen isn't in at the moment, but I'm more than happy to help you out..." he continued, and again his eyes flashed at his Pokémon. Abigail snorted, and this reaction alone made Wade shudder.
"What?!"
"Kangas..."
Well, so much for his first impression...

Before Wade had answered the door, Andi began to grow a bit more restless. Putting the ring on. Pulling it off. Putting in on her opposite thumb, only to replace it. Bouncing on her toes. Rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet. The teen was terrible when it came to standing still and waiting patiently, usually finding herself distracted by something that really wasn't all that important. However, what could be more exciting than what lied on the other side of that door: A promise of adventure? Before Andi could get too impatient, however, the aide had opened the door and greeted her. Putting on the same polite smile she used for customers at her old part-time job, Andi listened to the short speech about Aspen. A wandering soul, huh? A woman after her own heart! Too bad she was probably old... Like, REALLY old. Oak was, anyway. Elm was old-ish, too. This guy, however, looked like he was in his twenties, and if that icon on the left side of the post had anything to do with his appearance, he was fine. Truly, he did seem a bit disheveled, especially at the threats of his Pokemon, but the fact still remained that Mr. Wilson had caught Andi's attention. 'It's a shame everyone around here's so old!' she thought to herself before stepping in with attempts of grace. "Hiya! My name's Andi. I'm here for a Pokémon. You know, that whole thing." Letting out a giggle, the teen let her attention turn to what had been prodding at the back of her mind since the door opened: Abigail. Approaching the Kangaskhan quickly at first but slowing with fearful hesitance, Andi asked excitedly, "Aren't Kangaskhans really rare? They were back home, anyway! I came from Johto, y'see, so you had to go all the way to Kanto and to that Safari Zone place to get one. How'd you get her? All Kangaskhans are girls, right? I mean, they gotta be, for the babies. I read that on the internet, I dunno if it's true, but it makes sense." Now that she had started, it was doubtful if one could silence Andi. She was renown for her ability to speak quickly and without stop for an extended period of time. "Does she have a baby? What's her name? Is she, uh, friendly?"[/blockquote]

Oh dearest, darlingest Andi-pants, you should know by now that the genius who created Wade wouldn't have settled for anything less than a sexyfine laboratory aide =D
Speaking of the man, it seemed he had noticed Andi's excitement, or at least what he figured to be excitement. Who was he to know she could never stand still? It was quite a fun sight, anyway, and Wade chuckled lightly when the teen stepped inside and introduced herself.
"Wade Wilson," he replied, flashing a quick, charming smile before looking over his shoulder, nodding at the parent Pokémon that stood by his desk, trying to find a place to put the Pokémon Biology book down. "That there's Abigail. She's kind of..."
...Arceus. What was it with newbie trainers and his Kangaskhan lately? First there had been the Blanche brat that nearly got herself pummelled trying to snatch Whistler from Abi's pouch, and now, as Wade realized only when Andi suddenly seemed to have disappeared from where she had been just a moment ago, this girl seemed pretty eager to follow in Rosa Blanche's footsteps. A sigh of relief escaped the lips of the aide when Andi slowed down in approaching his Pokémon; Abigail herself still looked a bit tense.
"To... try and answer your questions," Wade said, smiling as he followed the teen towards Abigail, passing her with a few quick steps before crouching down in front of his Kangaskhan, "It's a royal pain in the behind trying to catch a Kangaskhan. I'm from Sinnoh myself, probably spent a few days camping in front of the Great Marsh and hundreds of bucks on the binoculars to try and see if I could spot one. The Great Marsh is Sinnoh's Safari Zone. Though I've never been to Kanto's."
The young man paused, exchanging a look with Abigail as his hands slowly crept closer and closer to her pouch. The Normal type shot a fierce glare at her owner, but seemed to trust him enough to hand over her baby. Rather reluctantly, the Kangaskhan moved her massive hands and carefully drew a small, purple-gray skinned baby from her pouch. Whistler yawned loudly, blinking her beady black eyes at the pair of humans in front of her before squirming slightly in her mother's grasp as she recognized the familiar face of her 'daddy'. "You read right; all Kangaskhan are female. This little gem's called Whistler, because, well... I mean, I am pretty sure I heard her whistle one time. Abigail's friendly, don't worry. She's just protective of Whis,"
It seemed for a moment that the Kangaskhan wasn't too sure about her owner's statement, carefully putting her baby in his hands, taking a moment to make sure Wade had his hands clasped around her child before actually letting go. Whistler took no notice of the reluctance with which her mother handed her over; the baby crooned a few incoherent things that didn't even sound remotely like the sound she would produce later and promptly began to chew on Wade's thumb.
"I think her teeth came through not too long ago. Whistler's been chewing on practically everything she can reach," said Wade, the tone of his voice soft, and quite loving as he watched the small Pokémon in his hands. "If you're not afraid to have your fingers being nommed on a bit, you can, you know... move closer a little bit. Whistler doesn't act much like her mommy yet when to comes to humans."
OoC// Wade should stop being cute. Dx

OoC:// BUH HUH no he shouldn't because he's making me smiiiile~! I wants me some Wade Wilson. XD;
BiC:// Wade Wilson was the guy's name. Andi tried to commit it to memory, something she knew was quite fruitless: She was horrible when it came to names. By the end of the day, Mr. Sexy would probably become Murdock or off-the-wall name like that. The wandering thought was quickly squashed as the ever-attractive aide began to speak again. About Pokemon, no less! The teen didn't expect much else, due to the man's job and the nature of her questions, but it was still a "big thing" to her. After all, Pokémon had been a sheltered idea to her prior to this. Her parents made sure she only saw them as pets, not as...
Not as weapons, was her initial thought, but the man behind the controls in Andi's brain was already sending out the "politically correct" bot. As companions. As partners. Because that's what they were... right?
Of course they were, Andi then rationalized, as she watched Wade and Abigail interact in the transaction of Whistler. In one simple action, so much trust was revealed. The two had a bond, one that the teen couldn't even begin to comprehend having with another human. That's why she was here today... Not to gain power and be able to fight others, but to get a Pokémon that would stand by her side, no matter what. As lame is it sounded, Andi wanted a friend, which was something she was quite unable to find back home. If Wade and Abigail were any indicator of what was in her future, things were definitely looking up.
If only to add to the uplifting moment for the young moment, Wade was looking impossibly adorable. He had just taken Whistler into his arms and was now a shining image of a "proud father." Andi couldn't fight back a grin as excitement bubbled up in her. 'Ohhh my God. I want him. Why can't he be younger? He's SO attractive! Jesus Christ, we'd make beautiful children. And he would be a fantastic dad. Hands-down.' Shaking off the infatuation for someone that was clearly off-limits, Andi directed the affection towards the baby Kangaskhan. Now, she had never like the whole screaming-and-crying-with-snot-dripping-down-their-faces baby scene; but when they weren't being a pain in the butt, babies were pretty cute. 'Almost as much as Wade!' the teen couldn't help adding mentally. Dang those hormones. Dang them to heck. Slowly, as if she was afraid Abigail would still lash out at her for being too close to her baby, Andi closed the gap between her, Whister, and Wade. She sent another wary glance to the mother Kangaskhan while extending a hand to stroke the purple-ish skin on the baby.
"She's amazing," Andi finally breathed, containing all excitement in fear of being harmed bodily. "I've only ever seen baby Glameows - My family has a lot of pets, y'see, and our Glameow, Mandy, well, she had kits. You know. We kept her in the house after that, heh. But this seems so... different."
OoC:// She's a representation of me. You had to see it coming. XD;; [/blockquote]

OoC// I don't tell you quite enough how much I love you, Andi. XDDDWade, obviously, was blissfully unaware of Andi's attraction to him, and why would he notice; the girl was only a teenager, and Wade had Whistler in his hands to occupy himself with now. Not to mention a big other factor that would mark every relationship the aide would ever have, but that story would be best off told another time...
Wade smiled as Andi closed the small gap between them and carefully stroked Whistler, quickly shifting his attention from the baby Kangaskhan to the bigger one, eyeing Abigail carefully. The elder Kangaskhan was still visibly annoyed with the fact her child was out of her hands and appeared a bit tense, but eventually seemed to give up, trusting her owner with Whistler as she carefully took a step back.
"Seems like Abi's warming up to ya," the aide said, winking at his Pokémon to show his gratitude to her; while Abigail merely snorted in reply, there seemed to be a hint of a smile curving her maw. Wade grinned, and turned his attention back to the baby in his hands. Whistler, having looked up at the unfamiliar human that stroked her, curiousity and a hitn of suspicion splashed across her features. The suspicion was short-lived, however, the baby Kangaskhan producing giggle-like sounds when she was stroked, playfully trying to make a grab for Andi's fingers. Wade had to pay attention and keep the baby balanced in his hands, something he seemed to combine perfectly with listening to Andi at the same time.
"Different? I guess you could say that," he said, a bit thoughtful. "But baby Glameows are pretty cool, too. Maybe it feels different because...Wow. I was hoping to have a cool, scientific explenation now." he continued, chuckling to hide the hint of embarrasment that had bubbled up inside him. "Can't think of any. But... Yeah. I know what you mean,"
Whistler had paused her game of trying to grab Andi's hand, looking up rather confused her her 'daddy' started talking to the other human. The baby decided quickly that it was rather boring, pulling on Wade's lab coat to try and get his attention again. The male looked down, blinking in realization, though said realization didn't concern baby Whistler the slightest. Carefully cradling the little Kangaskhan in his arms, Wade pushed himself back to his feet, politely holding out his hand to Andi, offering to help her get up as well.
"Speaking of Glameows, you're probably here for a Pokémon, aren't you?" said the aide, looking over his shoulder for a moment, catching the eyes of Abigail. The Kangaskhan gave a nod and waddled to her owner's desk, where she began rummaging through the paperwork that lay piled on the surface. "Abi's looking for the list of available Pokémon for you. It's got Glameow on there, too. If I'm not mistaken. I hope." OoC// Gah, sorry. This is a sucky post. Dx [/blockquote]

As Whistler began to play with her hand, Andi let out a small giggle. The baby Kangaskhan had already won her over as well, though it's not like she had to do much in the first place. She still attempted to continue the game with Whistler as Wade continued to speak, but the baby was now preoccupied with getting his attention and Andi was preoccupied with the hormones affecting her judgment again. His voice was nearly as intoxicating to her as everything else he did Somehow managing to listen despite all of the crazy scenarios now running through her mind, Andi chuckled at Wade's slight floundering. "It's cool. I understand. Sometimes I try to explain stuff to people, like, uh, somethin' to do with drawing or something, and then my mind just kinda goes blank..." She trailed off, however, as realization hit the aide. Blinking, Andi was confused for a moment, worried there was something wrong... Was it Whistler? He was staring at her. Did Andi do something wrong? Oh Arceus. She did something wrong. Crap crap crap. 'Way to make an impression, all right!' Andi scolded herself, biting her lip. Her tension eased, however, as Wade began to speak again.
"Speaking of Glameows, you're probably here for a Pokémon, aren't you? Abi's looking for the list of available Pokémon for you. It's got Glameow on there, too. If I'm not mistaken. I hope."
"Heh, yeah," she responded with a shrug. "Not that this hasn't been fun, but that was my original reason for coming here. I..." Trailing off slightly again, Andi looked at Wade's hand. Oh goodness gracious, those dang hormones were hitting again. Trying to regain herself, the teen hurriedly pressed on with, "I really, um, want to become a trainer." Slowly, trying to be casual, she looked at his hand again and began reaching for it. Her heart began pounding in her chest and seemed far too loud in her ears to be safe. Maybe it was a heart condition. That would be a lot easier to deal with than this nonsense, anyway. "I don't really mind if there's, uh, not a... a whatsitcalled-Glameow! Oh wow. Just went blank. See? Heh. But I like new experiences, you know..." Gently, she place her hand in his, and he began to pull her up.
'He'sholdingmyhandhe'sholdingmyhandhe'sholdingmyhandAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!'
Lost in the excitement, Andi almost forgot to let go of Wade's hand or even remain standing while up, causing her to stumble when they broke contact. Face flushing, the soon-to-be-trainer straightened up and let out a nervous giggle. "Oh man. I'm such a klutz. Sorry!"
OoC:// Psssh. You're fine. That hand opening was MORE than enough. X3 I just hope you can work with mine now!
