Entry #1 April On A Godforsaken Ship
Well, I'm not quite sure how to start this, so I'm just going to dive in. My mother always recorded things that happened to her in a journal, so she could look back later on breeding notes and situations and such. Since I'm going off on my own, I figure I should do the same. Though, I will admit, this is partially for my own sanity. Somehow it's comforting to write this, imagining myself reading this in the next weeks, months, years. Maybe even someone else will be interested someday.
This ship is torture. Small boats back home never bothered me, but the waves here are making me sick, all the time. Taking a steamship native to Lanorae to get there seemed like such a good idea a week ago. Not so much now. Myth is taking it worse than me. He has hardly come out of his Pokeball at all, and when he does his hooves can hardly get a purchase on the deck. I cant's take him topside - I'm afraid he'll fall over, and if it didn't kill him it would definitely traumatize him. Gretta's fairing pretty well. I've learned over the trip that she does, in fact, have the ability to connect mentally to humans. I guess I already knew she could, but she never has before, at least never with me. It's baby stuff still, even for how mature she acts. Just feelings and the like. She's a little anxious lately, but she's getting along fine. She's made friends with a Mareep that keeps wandering down the hall. I'm not sure who he belongs to, but it's pretty funny to watch the two together.
I've been able to practice my grooming a little bit. Lina Krens has a Poochyena, and when she asked why I was going to Lanorae, she asked if I could groom the mutt for her. I only say mutt because the stupid hound was matted like crazy - I have a feeling he spends more time out of the house than in.
Needless to say I've made very few acquaintances. Though there is one man I'd like to try and talk to; he has a Flareon, and I want to ask him about where he got the Eevee. It probably won't happen, though, because there's a definite class distinction here. He looks like old money, and I'm just a freshly hatched chick in the world. Or so the roomkeeper said.
We're docking in an hour at Konika Village. I'd like to stop in and talk to the Professor before I move on. At least, I want a moment or two to get a look at the rare Pokemon he gives to new trainers. I'll probably write more once I leave the Village.
Orelia Finch, out.
