Yes, I'm posting this. It was an assignment for my english class where we picked whatever topic we wanted. Well, I had a little list, and this one seemed to be the most popular among my peers, so it's the one I did xD Basically we just had to write what would be a magazine article of sorts. Enjoy!

ALIENSIGHTINGS
__________________________________________________
Nothing more than sci-fi gone wild, or is the
government doing the brainwashing?
It’s nightfall. The world is still and dark as the only sound radiating in the air is little more but the faint chirping of singing crickets outside your window. It’s just another night, nothing more but the end of the sun’s reign and the welcome era of the pale, soft moonlight peering through the outreaching branches of the gnarled trees which stretch their limbs up in welcome. You expect nothing. It’s merely the end of another day. Or is it?
You can see a faint light flitting among the clouds overhead, fading in and out of view as it swims through the sea of aerial mist. It seems to grow larger as you finally notice it, approaching slowly and then quickly as if it’s merely a large firefly being manipulated by the breeze. You are entranced, and then open your mouth to scream in confused terror as the light suddenly flares into a sunspot of burning glory, and you remember nothing.
More people than many realize have this exact experience. However, one must wonder if these stories of alien abduction are fact or fiction. It is obvious that the mystery of what lies beyond our atmosphere has established a niche in our society. Aliens are evident in popular culture in the form of movies such as
ET: the Extraterrestrial and even as a theme in towns such as Roswell, New Mexico, the town near the very first widely publicized UFO “crash site”; a crash site that the government went to great lengths to cover up.
The story of Roswell in July of 1947 is the same as almost all other UFO stories. Someone saw something in the sky, followed by reports of a potential crash. However, the main difference in this case is that supposedly there was actual evidence at the crash site, including a body. The debris of the wreckage was recovered from a ranch by the Roswell Army Air Field and, initially, the find immediately sparked media interest. Yet, almost immediately after, commanders within the air force base claimed the so-called “UFO” was no more than a high-tech weather balloon. Yet, if that was the case, what were the bodies that were supposedly recovered?
There was another such case that happened fifty years previous in Aurora, Texas, where another body was supposedly recovered. However, this body was not taken away, but instead buried in a local cemetery. When more recent investigations tried to access this cemetery to discover if there was some truth behind the alleged “alien grave”, they were denied permission. Why? Was the crash, and the burial of the deal pilot, merely a hoax the town didn’t want uncovered, or does someone not want the knowledge that extraterrestrial beings may very well walk among us to get out?
Of course, the most famous location for alien sightings is the notorious Area 51. It’s common knowledge that the government goes to great lengths in order to keep whatever they’re doing within the restricted location a secret from the public. However, that doesn’t stop the constant flow of UFO sightings coming from the general area, and the rumors that stem from this mysterious location. Is the government experimenting on the remains of UFOs that have crashed and, potentially, what were once their pilots? Or perhaps the government is even heavily involved and fully aware of the many UFO sightings and supposed alien abductions that take place around the world every day. For all we know, and for all the government’s allowing us to know, beings not of this earth could be among us, little more than shadows on the earth.
Whether you believe aliens to be fact or nothing more than science fiction, be wary should you see a light moving in the sky at night. It could be nothing more than your imagination running rampant, spurred on by the popular culture that surrounds the tales of extraterrestrial beings, or it could be instead that you have been chosen to be their next target.
Stories of people who have gone missing only to turn up miles away days, sometimes years, later with the belief that they never left are not uncommon. Tales of strange men with enormous eyes visible standing over you as you look upon them through blurred vision can be heard in every corner of the globe. Rumors of strange lights and flying shapes are always present. Will you be the next one to disappear in the dead of night?
