Name:
Stefen Wilder
Nickname:
'Fen
Age:
18
Gender:
Male
Occupation:
Trainer
Appearance:
Stefen's appearance could be roughly defined as a drifter. His face is perpetually set in an expression of a zoned-out daydreamer. His hair is dusty brown and straight, reaching his chin. His eyes are stormy grey-blue and are constantly staring into space. Stefen is about 5 foot and 10 inches, with a strong but lean build. Curiously, he has rather pale skin, despite spending much of his time outside.
Stefen's clothes are tough and functional, and he is most often seen wearing a black shirt worn over a white one, desert camo patterned cargo pants tucked into a pair of combat boots, and black sunglasses hanging around his neck. He is also often seen with a sandy coloured jacket or coat tied around his waist. To carry his gear and supplies, Stefen has many pouches tied onto his belt and deep pockets in his cargo pants.
Personality:
Stefen is soft-spoken and observational, but never afraid to show his opinion. He is naturally pragmatic, willing to use whatever means are available to him to accomplish a goal, although he dislikes manipulation. Despite his pragmatism, Stefen prefers the brute force method, his modus opperandi being 'if brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough', however, he will use other methods if they present themselves.
Stefen tends to dislike things staying the same, thus he prefers to wander around, in all it's forms, he lets his mind wander whenever he can, and he walks between towns even more. Stefen quickly developed a preference for ground and rock types from learning about Pokémon. His love of the ground and rock types is from learning of their toughness, where he believed that if they have a good enough defense, then he could keep attacking without worry. He freely admits, however, that his logic is flawed.
Despite his pros, Stefen does have cons, he tends to use the less used option in almost anything. Stefen has also been known to fall asleep often whenever he is forced to stay in one place, and because of his detachment and tendency to daydream, he sometimes misses out on conversations or key information.
History:
Stefen was raised in Sunnyshore city, Sinnoh, by his uncle Victoire, who was a Pokémon trainer himself. He grew up not knowing what happened to his parents, often asking Victoire, who could only respond with an honest shrug. Because of his personality, Stefen made almost no friends, being known as a blunt, rude child who only spoke when spoken to.
Stefen did like his hometown a lot. Many different types were in the town, and since it was the gateway to the Pokémon league of Sinnoh, Stefen saw many different Pokémon and their trainers.
Stefen was raised hearing of stories of other regions, and the Pokémon there. He was very much interested in the stories of ground and rock type pokemon, and was deeply dissapointed when he heard that most Pokémon labs only ever gave out fire, grass and water types. Stefen however, was deeply adamant about using ground and rock pokemon, much to his uncles amusement.
Victoire often joked that his persona was just like that of the Nidoking of Kanto, unrelenting, stubborn and steadfast. He instantly wanted to someday catch one or both of the Nidos, despite them not becoming ground types until their final evolution. He promised his uncle that he'd catch one or both someday, and hopefully become a great ground/rock type trainer.
For most of his teen years, Stefen drifted through life, never forgetting his promise to one day get both Nidos. This behaviour however, was picked up by his uncle, and, after pulling some strings, got a ticket to the Lanorae region and gave it to Stefen for his eighteenth birthday, the same age his father and uncle left to become trainers. After giving him a pair of sunglasses belonging to Stefen's father, Victoire gave him a pat on the back and asked that when Stefen became the toughest ground/rock type trainer he could be, he'd like to battle him.
For the first time in his life, Stefen felt like he had some direction to follow.
