TAKE MY HAND AND LET ME SOAR
Happiness status is the main measure of a Pokémon's happiness in the Lanorae region. Happiness is what determines how loyal your Pokémon is to you (a Pokémon with negative happiness will probably not listen at all) as well as when certain types of Pokémon will evolve. In a way, this is a way of killing two birds with one stone: there is a set happiness evolution method, and it will also prevent people who choose to do things to make their Pokémon unhappy from somehow having Pokémon that are ridiculously loyal. To give an example, a trainer that may abuse their Pokémon, yet said Pokémon listens and adores said trainer regardless.
Of course, even if you aren't exactly the kindest individual, it is possible to still keep your Pokémon happy and loyal to you. It just may be a bit harder based upon how cruel you really are. And there are some Pokémon that actually respond better to cruelty as well.
Generally, most significant actions will result in a happiness gain or loss when it comes to your Pokemon, and until they like you a fair bit they may not be particularly forgiving.

GAINING HAPPINESS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Happiness can be gained in a multitude of ways, and the ways listed here are just the absolute basics. Several different things can influence your Pokemon's happiness, so this is by no means a complete list.
- Participating in a battle +3
- Winning a battle +3, may be more
- Being kind to a Pokemon Varies based on situation
- Adopting a Pokemon +5
- Allowing a Pokemon to hold an item +2
- Catching a Pokemon by it offering to come with you Varies based on situation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOSING HAPPINESS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, there are also many ways to make your Pokémon unhappy. Again, some will be revealed as you roleplay, but others are listed to give you an idea of what is frowned upon.
- Losing a battle -3, may be more, less, or potentially none depending on how you treat the Pokemon when it loses
- Leveling up with a Rare Candy -5 per candy
- Abusing a Pokemon Varies based on situation
- Abandoning the Pokemon All happiness is turned negative. If neutral may lose happiness or remain neutral
- Yelling at/scolding a Pokemon Varies based on situation
- Catching a Pokemon through battle Varies based on situation

IMPORTANCE OF HAPPINESS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, there are certain things that should be noted about the aspect of happiness. You need happiness in order to have a Pokémon that requires happiness evolution evolve for one thing, but there are also other aspects as well. Happiness can go as high as 100 and as low as -100, so remember that! These statuses are divided into a few different groups, which are listed below. Each one has it's own perks or consequences, so pay attention to them!
-100 to -80 (LOATHING)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pokémon who loathe their trainer are unpredictable and aggressive. They
never obey a command, and may even turn on their trainer and attempt to attack them. It isn't uncommon for them to attempt to run away, therefore it is quite likely a Pokémon of this status will not be with its trainer for much longer. Trainers that choose to keep their Pokémon on this level for extended periods of time will more than likely have several scars from attacks and the like, if they have the Pokemon at all.
-79 to -50 (HATRED)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pokémon who hate their trainer will rarely obey any sort of command and will sooner spit at their feet. They generally are not afraid to show their obvious hatred of their trainer, though they are not quite at a point where they will directly try to harm them as long as the trainer's careful.
-49 to -20 (DISLIKE)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pokémon at this stage can generally be found glaring or sulking, and will even go as far as making rude faces at their trainers behind their backs. There is still the slim chance they will obey commands if they find them to be well-thought out, though most of the time they will choose to ignore any orders and generally attack on their own.
-19 to -1 (ANNOYANCE)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pokémon who are annoyed with their trainer still may obey commands, though they have just as much chance of disobeying. They generally remain quiet around their trainer and usually choose not to interact much with them unless absolutely necessary, for the very idea that they are stuck with such an individual annoys them.
0 (NEUTRAL)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Neutral Pokémon bear no ill will towards their trainer, but they aren't particularly loyal either. They obey when they see it's a good idea, but will choose their own attack should they find the command to be foolish or idiotic.
1 to 20 (TOLERANCE)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pokémon who tolerate their trainer can be reasonably friendly and will generally overlook their trainer's flaws, though they still may occasionally choose to do their own thing when it comes to receiving commands. They don't have any particularly caring nature towards their masters yet, though that can easily be changed if treated right.
21 to 50 (LIKE)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When a Pokémon likes its trainer, it will generally act cheerful around them and will, to an extent, trust them. At this point they will obey commands with little reluctance, though they are still at a stage when they aren't particularly attached to their trainer and are capable of moving on should anything happen to them. They tend to respond well to a trainer's voice, which can jerk them out of confusion or sleep.
51 to 80 (ADORE)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is when Pokémon that require happiness to evolve can finally do so. While they may not give their lives to protect their trainer, they will try to do most else in their power to keep them from harm. They will generally obey commands without question, and have an overall extremely loyal disposition, even if some may not show it outwardly depending on their personality. It tends to be harder to lose any happiness at this point unless it is something particularly major.
81 to 100 (LOVE)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This status is what every trainer should strive for. Pokémon who love their trainers will do absolutely anything for them even if it means their own lives. They are protective, loving, and always there whenever their masters happen to need them, and generally do not take kindly to others harming the individual they care so deeply for. However, while little things, like losing a battle, no longer affect their happiness, things that infringe heavily upon their trust can prove devastating to the relationship between Pokemon and trainer, unlike the lower happiness stages.
Obviously these levels are base guidelines and the exact behaviour will vary from Pokémon to Pokémon. After all, there are some kindly souls out there that, even though they may hate their trainer, would show it in different ways than attacking them.
Also, gaining and losing happiness can also be influenced by a Pokemon's personality. For example, if you get a Pokémon that, for whatever reason, enjoys pain, then physically abusing it probably wouldn't cause happiness to go down. Note that this is an extreme example, but it gets the point across.
