[/i] is steam-powered, and i think the people might flip if i even bothered to show them some things that i brought back from hoenn. it's strange, but nice. i don't know how to explain it really, but i know one thing for sure: this calls for a serious shopping spree. wearing a t-shirt and jeans kind of makes you stand out in this area, so once i get by that next town, i'll be sure to go and buy some of the more "in" clothes.

the ship ride here was horrible, and i hated not being able to sleep through most of it. but then i landed and i headed straight for the laboratory--once i was over the initial shock at the village. as i was walking a crowd of people pushed by me and it turned out that there was a heard of wailord and wailmer passing by on their migratory route! i heard it was a rare sight and wasn't expecting to see it at all, but i did. i'm sure it's a good sign about what's to come--don't you?

anyway, in the laboratory, i met some guy named jim. to be honest, he was good looking. like really good looking. but more in that sophisticated, laid-back way. y'know, when people just look good even without trying? yeah, that was him. he gave me the choices of starter pokemon, and obviously i chose the glameow. they're just so beautiful and graceful and everything their evolutionary forms are not. i promise i'll never evolve him.

oh, but it gets even better!

jim came back with a shiny. ohyes, a shiny. i'm not lying. he was purple and sleek and i swear he was physically shiner than normal glameows. maybe it's because he was so well taken care of, but either way, my new shiny! glameow is now sitting in a pokeball, in my bag. i'm too nervous to let him out--what if he doesn't like me? i don't know what i'll do if my starter and i don't get along. i think i'll wait until i've officially started my journey--out in route one--to release him.

hopefully i can wait that long.
