The laboratory of Professor Morwen Aspen is a rather large structure for such a quaint town. Though it is only one story high, the building seems to expand in widths, with wooden steps leading up to the double doors that allow entrance into the research facility.
Guests are sometimes greeted by the calm grace of Professor Aspen's Froslass, Kiana, and her young Riolu, Ria, however, more often than rarely a rather loud din can be heard from inside the structure as one or two of the aides attempt to re-capture a Pokémon or two.
Generally, Morwen Aspen is present, however, the professor is known to suddenly disappear without warning into the expanses of the Lanorae region. Why exactly she disembarks, leaving the Pokémon in the care of her aides, is yet to be found out. However, she certainly does not go alone, for whenever she vanishes her Pokémon seem to as well.
Though typically off limits to anyone but trainers visiting their own Pokémon, a doorway is present at the back of the lab, which leaders to the surprisingly large expanses of land behind the lab. This is where the Pokémon that trainers don't have room for typically reside, as well as a variety of powerful psychic Pokemon that handle the transactions between party and these stored Pokemon. After all, the large majority of the technology in the region is steam-powered. they had to figure out another way to do such things.
Inside the lab one can usually be met by a scene of pristine neatness, a rather large surprise considering most research facilities are known for being at least a little bit messy. Adorning the walls are number sketches drawn by the professor herself, all of which drawn with a professional air to them. Book shelves mark the hallway into the main research areas, and quite the collection Morwen as managed to collect indeed! Off to the right is a table that circles around a very curious-look computer. It seems to be made primarily out of brass and numerous gears are showing. The keyboard itself looks to be far more like that of a typewriter, and one really must wonder what can be done with it considering the technology it was built with, or really if it's even more than show to begin with -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE TRAINER PATH -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To most, Konika Village is identified as the town where trainers begin their journeys with their Pokémon companions. Of course, this is a true assumption, as one of the primary purposes of the research lab is to hand out starter Pokémon to individuals who wish to have one of the regional starters that are available. Starter Pokémon-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As stated, the Lanorae region has it's own regional starters Firecub, Iglora, and Seaward, and this is the only location where an aspiring trainer can get one of these Pokémon as a partner. Of course their is another option. There is also the possibility of a random choice, where a trainer may instead choose to "adopt" one of the Pokémon eggs or young Pokémon in the lab. All of these Pokémon are at level five, of course. It is a very strange situation that's not usually offered at the labs in the regions such as Kanto or Johto, though trainers that don't have their own starter and don't wish to take one of the Lanorae ones are generally willing to take a chance at their starter generally choose to take a random partner. After all, it is the only way to get a rare or fossil Pokémon as a starter, and if a banned Pokémon happens to hatch for you then you get to keep it anyway! Starter kit-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Likewise, a starter kit is also offered to new trainers. It is a very basic bag of supplies that is designed only to get a trainer started, but if one's careful it's more than capable of helping them reach the next town. However, the components inside do not look like the typical variety of items found in other regions, even though they do consist of five pokeballs, five potions, three full heals, one region map, and 1000 c
