Konika Village (kahn-eh'-kah vi'-lij) - is a relatively small town located right next to the sea. As would be expected, the village does have its own harbour where new trainers from other regions typically arrive in order to start their journey in this new region. Out to sea during the fall, herds of Wailmer and Wailord can sometimes be seen breaching as they migrate towards these warmer waters. Curiously, sightings of the large herds always seem to happen on the same days, a truly extraordinary feat for the large whales. Generally on these days individuals from all over the region flock to the small town in order to see the magnificent sight.
However, trainers arriving from other regions also will recognize something else about the village. It is really the first taste many get of the technology level of the region, which has followed a completely different advancement path compared to the more well-known regions of Kanto, Johto, and the others. Many of the homes are low and don't extend above a story high, and a strange gadget or two can occasionally be seen. In fact, even glancing around the harbour makes it evident that everything in this village is largely steam-powered rather than the modernized electricity of many other regions. How strange.
However, probably the sight that attracts most is the surprisingly large seaside lab which is the residence of Professor Morwen Aspen and her aides. New trainers receive their starters from this lab before setting off towards the prairies at the edge of town that make up the first route. She is well known throughout the region, however, it seems to be a rare thing for her to actually be seen at the lab. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLACES OF INTEREST -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Konika Village laboratory-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Konika Village lab is normally the hot spot for all trainers coming into the region. It is run by Professor Morwen Aspen, the head of Pokémon research in Lanorae, and her various aides, though the various gadgets and contraptions that replace modern lab equipment tends to be a point of interest of many. This is where most come to receive a starter Pokemon, and is also what is essentially a "home base" for many trainers. The Millers' abode-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Millers are a resident elderly couple that have since retired to Konika Village. While they tend to be overlooked, those who choose to pay them a visit generally don't leave empty handed! After all, even in their old age they both tend to have a fair bit to do around the house, and any help someone may give never goes without reward! Konika shore-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Konika shore makes up the entire side of the village that meets the sea. A popular spot for relaxing by the ocean or just walking in the waves, it tends to be one of the more busy areas of the small town. It is also host to the Konika harbour, which is the main entryway into the region, thus it's almost always bustling with some activity, even if many individuals don't even venture into the village itself. Of course, it also serves as a gateway to various other areas of the region, and many trainers may very well get their starter here and then sail off to another area to really begin their journey! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CLIMATE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Konika Village has a largely subtropical climate, with rather warm summers and mild, cooler winters. During the spring and summer months, temperatures are generally warmer with the chance of rain showers coming in off the ocean. The fair weather generally makes these months a popular time for people to travel to Konika, be it to start their journey or simply visit the small village. During the autumn and winter months, storms become noticeably more prominent and much more fierce. While particularly severe tropical storms and hurricanes are a risk year-round, they become considerably more likely towards the end of autumn to around the middle of winter, when the air currents are less predictable. Konika has been known to get snow during the winter months on particularly cold days, though these are normally only very light snowfalls and they generally do not remain for more than a day at most. The winter and autumn months also tend to be more overcast compared to the spring and summer months, and sunlight is less frequent. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- POKEMON FOUND -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [atrb=cellpadding,1,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=width,180][rs=3] | [atrb=class,pokemontableh1][cs=2] Rattata and Raticate | [cs=2]Both Rattata and Raticate are frequent sights throughout this quaint town. They are generally seen scurrying about near the harbour, where they have the chance to scavenge scraps here and there from what is cast away when the large ships dock. However, it's not uncommon for them to be sighted around homes as well, particularly ones that have vegetable patches where they may find an easy meal.

They are known for roosting in great numbers near the rockier shore of the area, though most trainers choose to wait and try to find one in town -- which isn't hard -- rather than risk getting hurt on the rocks. These birds tend to be a bit of an annoyance to fishermen as they constantly flock around schools of fish and manage to scare them away. very common | uncommon | [atrb=class,pokemontableh2] Day only | [atrb=class,pokemontableh2] Year-round |
| [rs=3] | [atrb=class,pokemontableh1][cs=2] Pidgey and Pidgeotto | [cs=2]These birds are commonly seen all over the village, particularly near homes and shops. They build their nests on rooftops or in the trees surrounding the little town, and venture onto the streets to peck at what crumbs and scraps of food they may find. Many are bold and used to humans enough that they will eat bread right out of someone's hand without too much wariness. Some have gotten too big for their britches and will take food without having it offered. They can be a nuisance.
