"Alrighty then, we're here. Now what, Arty?" asked Jason Charles Geraldson, to his brother Arthur, who stood beside him as they stared over the current area of Lanorae's First Route, known best as the High Prarie. "Well, Jay-Jay, I'd say we find some Pokemon to catch, and trainers to battle. With the first gym already so close, we've got plenty to do before we can challenge the leader." Jason nodded, ignoring the annoying nickname his brother had given him [Which was only because Jason gave Arthur one first, but that doesn't matter.]. The younger of the two brothers went off into a sprint down the hill they stood atop, looking around at all the surroundings... Then he tripped over a tree root, fell over on his back, then flipped over again, and landed in a faceplant. He groaned, as Arthur caught up, grabbed his by the arm, and helped him stand. "Thanks, bro," said Jason as he went to sit down by a nearby tree, shaded well from the beaming sun. Arthur stood by him, keeping a close watch to make sure nobody got past them without a fight.

As it turned out, Jason are Arthur weren't the only brothers on Route One that day. The other pair in question were sitting in a tree by the entrance of the route when they heard a loud thump near the base of their tree. They both looked toward the sound, then at each other, and trying to be silent, they started slowly down tree. Unfortunately, due to the fact that Zigzagoon weren't really built for climbing down trees, he lost his grip and started to fall. On the way down, he somehow managed to hit his brother and the next thing that they knew, they were both on the ground in a heap. The Sentret immediately started yelling at his brother, not noticing the two trainers that were less that 10 feet from him. [!]Wild Sentret and Zigzagoon have Appeared[!]

((Eek! A stalker!))
"Arthur..." "I'm busy." "But bro, there are these-" "I don't care which blades of grass grow faster-" "THE FREAKIN' POKEMON, DUDE!" Cue awkward silence.
Arthur finally realized what his brother meant, and turned around. "I see what you mean. You can have the Zigzagoon, from memory, they're pretty even, but the Dark-type attack Sucker Punch is unavailable the Linoone, while Furret, and possibly even Sentret, may obtain this move." Jason nodded, as he stood up, lifting himself with a low branch of the tree.
"Kleine Vogel, at ready position." "Jakost, do your stuff!"
Two small Pokemon materialized from flashes of blinding white light. from the 'balls they had been in that entire time. A Natu, and a Machop, standing across from each other with the two wild Pokemon in between them, creating a circle with about a five-and-one-half foot diameter. But forgetting the math, both opened their ears to their trainers.
"Start Meditating, Jakost!" commanded Jason, as the Machop closed his eyes, crossed his legs "pretzel-style," and began thinking, slowly allowing his attack power to rise.
"Leer it down, K.V.," called out Arthur. The Natu just blinked. Then it blinked again. And on the third blink, his eyes began glowing bright blue, possibly intimidating the two wild Pokemon, namely the Sentret that it was mostly aimed toward.

The two Normal types continued their argument, completely unaware of the trainers, the entire time that Arthur and Jason talked about them. Although, when Machop and Natu were sent out, Zigzagoon noticed the bright red flash. <Uh... bro, there's two Pokémon by us...> The Sentret turned around to look, and unfortunately that was the exact moment Natu used Leer, making Sentret take the full force of the attack.
Without saying anything to his brother, Sentret charged Natu, paws extended, trying to Scratch the small bird Pokémon. Zigzagoon, not entirely sure what to do, just Growled in the general direction of Machop.

Since Kleine Vogel was basically a little green ball with features, he took the Scratch, rolled a bit, the just rolled right back, the revealing his beak to be glowing purely white. And with his short, stubby legs, the Natu jumped forward with a Peck attack.
Jakost basically facepalmed. It was a complete waste, the Zigzagoon would only faint faster with the small bonus. He sighed, stood up, ran forward, before going into a slide, legs-first, like the baseball plyers did, with one foot pointed straight at the Zigzagoon for a Low Kick attack.

Sentret hadn't expected the small bird to recover from it's attack so quickly, so the Normal type was thrown completely off guard by the Peck attack. Due to the Leer attack it had been hit by earlier, the attack did significantly more damage, making it cry out in pain. Unable to concentrate because of the pain, Sentret did the most natural thing and curled up in a ball.
Zigzagoon had been watching as Machop approached, ready to jump out of the way of the Fighting type's attack. However, just as Machop started its slide, Sentret cried out, making Zigzagoon whip around, to see what was ailing his brother. His attention was brought back to his battle, rather painfully, when Machop's attack hit dead on. Enraged, not so much that he was getting attacked, but that his brother was, Zigzagoon leaped at Machop, trying to Tackle it.

Everybody knew that the curling up wouldn't help much at all. No matter what, it simply let other, barely harder spots on the creatures back become exposed. And of course, Kleine Vogel took this advantage, and let his beak glow brightly again. K.V. jumped up, and planned to land hard for the kill.
Jakost let the Tackle hit, wincing slightly but otherwise unfazed. He got back up, and the Machop dip the same baseball players' slide, hoping for a knockout punch... Er, kick, this time.

Sentret was hit again by the Peck attack, this time because of the fact that it was curled into a ball. With a muffled groan, the Normal type slowly unrolled, knocked out. Zigzagoon, this time keeping his attention on his battle jumped out of the way of Machop's attack. However, out of the corner of his eye, he saw his brother get knocked out. Growling with rage, Zigzagoon charged Natu, trying to Tackle the small bird, hoping to avenge his brother's defeat.

K.V. was struck hard in the side, rolling away and just laying there. It wasn't in much pain at all, nor did it care. The Zigzagoon was significantly weakened by Jakost, so why did this bird have to give more than a wince at such a weak attack?
Meanwhile, Jakost saw his chance at a finishing attack from behind, so he went for it. Another slide, another Low Kick, possibly another wild Pokemon beaten and caught.
Speaking of which, since the Sentret had been defeated, Arthur took a chance, tossing a Pokeball in the air at it. "Your name will be Lasica," he muttered to himself, waiting for the small ding of victory...

Due to the fact that Zigzagoon was only moving on rage alone, as soon as Machop's newest attack connected, the Normal type collapsed. Meanwhile, the Pokeball that Arthur threw hit Sentret dead on, causing the Sentret to turn into red light and get sucked into the ball. After rocking back and forth several times, the ball came to a stop and dinged. "Awesome job, Jakost!" cheered Jason from his sitting position, lifting himself up and removing a Pokeball from his pocket, which he maximized, and tossed to the unconscious Zigzagoon. "You're mine!" he shouted, his voice echoing throughout the route. An awkward silence followed, but ceased when everyone was brought back to the reality that a "brand spankin' new" trainer was catching his first Pokemon of his current journey.
((Air quotes because both Jason and Arthur are long-term trainers, trying out a new adventure.))

The Pokeball flew though the air and hit the Zigzagoon dead on, making a small thunk. With a flash of red light, the normal type disappeared into the ball and after rolling around for a little, the Pokeball dinged. Suddenly, an almost eerie quiet descended on the route, but was quickly interrupted by some chirping coming from the somewhat wooded area up ahead. All better now because he'd caught a Pokémon [If that makes sense.], Jason jumped right up, and ran forward. "I got a Pokémon! Whoo! Yeah! Rock on! Look out Lanorae, here I come- Whaaa!" He came crashing down, tripping over a similar tree root from before. "You've got to be more careful," said Arthur as he caught up. Luckily, the young trainer was unscathed, so he stood right back up and started a slow jog farther down the path, with Arthur close behind him. [random event roll] TRICK! Lebka finds a strange item on the ground. As it goes to inspect it, its suddenly looks quite sick. Oh my! It seems your Pokémon has somehow been poisoned!

As the pair continued down the route, the chirping sound got increasing louder. Suddenly, the chirping stopped and was replaced a loud Growling sound. If Arthur and Jason looked up, they would plainly see a Spearow standing in a nest, facing a rather small Pidgey, also in the nest. If they didn't look up, they would see some bushes. However, the bushes weren't totally uninteresting, due to the fact that they were rustling somewhat.

"Jason, stop." "Yeah? What's up?" "Hear that bush?" "... Yeah. But curiousity killed the cat." "Yet revelation revived it." And so, the brothers approached the mysterious bush. ((Ugh. Totally uninspired.)) [random event roll] TREAT!

As Jason and Arthur approached the bush, suddenly a Hoppip bounced out of it, followed closely by a Ledyba, who was flapping its wings at the Grass type. However, as soon as they saw Jason and Arthur, both of them tried to freeze, aparently thinking human's vision was based off movement. Unfortunately, Hoppip have very little control over their own movement, causing the Grass type to continue to float closer to the brothers. [!]Wild Hoppip and Ledyba have Appeared[!]

"Dibs on the Hoppip! It's gotta be more powerful! Nothing can hurt Grass-types, or Flying. Combined will be the death of all! And it evolves more!" cheered Jason, easily enthusiastic. Fine, thought Arthur. I wanted the Ledyba anyway. Good luck with the weakling that just Splashes about everywhere and heals itself like crazy at the loss of about the amount of health half an Oran Berry would heal.
Of course, Lebka was already released from his Pokeball, and sprayed with a bit of Full Heal to heal it up of poison. "Night Shade!" commanded the young trainer, and suddenly, everything around both Hoppip and Lebka froze, as light faded from the Duskull's one eye, and the surrounding area. It was so dark, nobody could see in, or out. Suddenly, if the attack worked, a large amount of something would sweep past the Hoppip in all directions, sucking away a good amount of its strength. Then, light reappeared, in both the battlefield and Lebka's eye, ending the attack.
Arthur stood back, contemplating on who to use - K.V., or his new friend...
((HINTHINT: The newbie is, or at least will be a Poochyena once the adoption's done, hopefully before my next post. But keep the Ledyba around, kthxbai.))

ooc: lol, so violent cool, i figured that you'd get these ones by friendship...
bic: Still unable to control its own movements, the Hoppip had no option but to float into the Night Shade attack. When it was fully engulfed in the darkness, the Grass type made a small peeping noise, but otherwise seemed fine with the darkness. However, when Duskull struck, the Hoppip cried out in pain and plummeted to the ground. As soon as the darkness faded again, both the Hoppip and the Ledyba sprung into action. The twin leaves on top of the Grass type's head started to glow as the Hoppip started to regain health. Meanwhile, Ledyba started to beat its wings at a high velocity, creating a Supersonic shriek at Duskull.

((Actually, Arthur was. Jason's just arrogant.))
Well, I can't fight it. Ledyba's too fast for Kleine Vogel, Lasica's unconcious, and Lupine's too weak. I don't have much choice, though. It's probably pissed off at Jason. Maybe I could work that to my advantage...
Silently, a small Poochyena was released from its Pokeball. "Lupine, I need you to get that Ledyba's attention. I want you to translate what it is saying." The young Poochyena, not knowing much of any languages, as it was a baby, simply barked, in a sitting position looking up at its trainer with bright, wide eyes, wagging his tail. Arthur sighed, bending down and patting on Lupine's head. "We can play later, okay?" he said, with a smile. "I want you back in the Pokeball now, though. 'Kay?" Again, the baby Pokemon simply barked, his tail near invisible at the speed it was wagging at. "I'll take that as a yes," said Arthur, returning him, and sending of Kleine Vogel in his place. "K.V. Talk to Ledyba. Translate. You have telepathy powers, right? So it should work. Get on it," Arthur said, much more serious with the Natu than his puppy teammate. Kleine Vogel attempted a shrug, then turned on his heel to face the Ledyba. <Yo, Ladybug!> he shouted, quite simply at that.
"Dodge and Disable!" commanded Jason, and Lebka listened, moving away from the Supersonic, then turning to the Hoppip, whom had healed itself annoyingly after only one minor hit. Suddenly, Lebka's eye turned stony grey, and if it worked, the same would happen to the Hoppip's. Suddenly, everything relating to the move Synthesis directly was absorbed from the creature's mind, and hidden away in some dark realm for a while.

The Disable attack worked remarkably well and instantly forgot how to execute Synthesis. However, instead of being sad or distraught, like one would expect it to be, the Grass type just smiled and started clapping its hands, Encoring the Duskull. Ledyba, meanwhile noted the Natu's appearance, and decided to ignore it, seeing how the other Flying type was obviously trying to distract it from the battle, and that wasn't about to happen. After all, the Ledyba had helped the Hoppip up to this point already, so he might as well continue to do so. Knowing that if he used an offensive attack, the Duskull would just Disable any damaging attack that he used, the Ledyba stared to flap it's wings violently again, making a Supersonic sound.
