Zuk walked through the small village, wondering where the laboratory was located. He just recently arrived in this town, so he didn't know where everything was. It took a few minutes, but he had finally spotted a large building a bit in the horizon. "That must be it," Zuk said to himself as he began to walk towards it. All Zuk was thinking about was what kind of Pokémon he was going to start out with. He's traveled to many places, but he never actually caught or started out with a Pokémon before.
Zuk had finally arrived at the door of the building. Zuk began to knock on the door *thump thump*, and than he began to wait if someone was going to answer it.

It really didn't take all that long for the door to be opened to reveal a woman of average stature. She gave a warm smile, her icy blue eyes twinkling as she pushed a few stray strands of her hair back to their perch behind her ears. A lab coat was draped over her shoulders, showing clearly that even if she wasn't Professor Aspen herself, she at least was one of the aides here.
However, it seemed that Zuk had been fortunate enough to come at a time where Aspen was actually present at the lab. As a matter of fact, the professor had been remaining around her lab quite often lately, which was rather unnatural considering her tendency to just abruptly disappear for several days or even weeks. True, her aides were taking the fact for granted that the head of the laboratory was actually there if they needed her, but it was a nice break considering just how often she tended to vanish on a normal occasion.
"Hello there, welcome to my laboratory," she said cheerfully, opening the door a bit wider. "What can I do for you today, dear? I'm guessing you're here for a starter?"

"Uh... Yes I am," Zuk replied, trying to smile back as best he could. "Um... am I suppose to come in or something and recieve the starter pokemon?" Zuk asked, unsure of himself. He wasn't exactly the social type of person, so it was kind of hard for him to talk to other people.

"Yes, yes, you are, if that's what you're here for," Professor Aspen replied, still smiling as she stepped away from the door so Zuk had some room to get through. "Do you have any idea what it is you'd prefer? Or what we have available for that matter, I get so many varied individuals I don't know who needs to see pictures and who doesn't."
She entered the lab and leaned absently against a nearby table, her icy blue eyes fixed on Zuk as she waited for some sort of response. The interior of her lab was rather neat; from the clean, tile flooring to the organized piles of books, and to the drawings that hung all over the walls, everything seemed to have its own designated place.
Which was curious, in a way, for Aspen herself seemed to be wearing worn sneakers that were no longer white, and the jeans she had on were faded and ripped in the knees. Quite a difference indeed. [/blockquote]

"Um... Ok," Zuk answered as he slowly walked through the door, unsure if he was intruding or not. When Zuk was asked what he preferred, he began to go into deep thought. Questions such as what if he picked the wrong pokemon or what if they didn't like each other kept on popping into his head. "I think I know what pokemon you offer here and I think I would like to have a... um... Seaward." Zuk said, sounding abit unsure of his decision.
Zuk than began to think about his choice. The pokemon Seaward were known to be more on the shy side, which was where Zuk was to. They were water-type pokemon, which he has had no problem dealing with in the past. "Yeah, Seaward," Zuk repeated, this time with a bit more confidence.

"Uh... Thank you," Zuk said with an attempted smile, gently taking the pack and pokeball Prof. Aspen offered him. "Well, I best be on my way now, so bye," he said as he began to turn around and walk through the door he previously entered. Well, it looks like I better head out toward the High Prairie, Zuk thought to himself as he began to walk away from the lab.
