feeling short of stable
"Just a few more steps," she urged herself on. "Don't lose your cool now..."
The speaker was a young girl of perhaps strange variety. Her clothes included a dark-blue hoodie that looked to be too big for her, and brownish-tannish pants with cream on the edges. Her brown hair was unkempt and messy, perhaps indicating she was either a rebel or incredibly lazy. The truth was a little of both, predictably.
All her life she'd been wanting to be a Pokemon Trainer. Her parents had promised to let her leave home at the age of thirteen, but they'd broken their promise. In turn she'd broken out of their house and found her own way around. She'd been saving money up for her journey for some time, and she used the money to buy tickets onto a boat to a whole new region for her. She wanted a new start, far away from her parents. And now she could barely keep in the excitement.
"Iglora, Firecub, Seaward..." She was reading the pamphlet she'd been given, eyes darting across the page as she thought out loud. "Which one...? They all look kinda cool. They evolve into even cooler pokemon." She sighed, exasperated.
Her eyes settled on one spot moments before she stuffed the pamphlet into her pocket. She looked up, to stop just in time before she ran head-first into the door. "Oh. Hey. I'm here." The numb coolness of her voice was only the reaction to how numb she felt.
Reaching up with a hand that seemed to no longer belong to her, she knocked on the door.
