A lone figure trudged along a pathway, almost dragging her feet from the long journey she had just endured. She had recently had to outrun a small group of mischievous Pidgey that had literally, decided to pick on her. Before that, she had walked for a couple of days with only a few hours of sleep. Her current clothes were a bit worn, but she had recently washed them where she was sure nobody would see her. It had been very awkward, but it had needed to be done. She didn't want to go into the Konika Village laboratory looking like she was living on the streets.
"Come on, Darvala, you're almost there," she said, trying to convince herself that she was. She looked up, and was surprised to see that she was, in fact, almost there. Panting a little, she continued on. Why did today have to be so hot? Her Bandanna didn't look to nice on her head today, but if she took it off, her hair would be even worse, so she stuck to her bandanna being on.
What seemed like hours later, though it was only minutes, she was at the front of the laboratory. She had been thinking about what Pokémon she wanted. She had, for some reason, shown great interest in Munchlax lately. It was odd, really; she had never really been interested in them before, but she had grown to like them. It would be a replacement for a Riolu, which she knew would likely be impossible to get. Though, if she did end up getting a Riolu or Munchlax, she'd probably die of excitement.
Grabbing the handle and pushing the door open, she found herself surrounded be a few scientists. It was quite busy; a little more busy than she had expected anyway. She walked a few steps into the room, and waited for someone to come and help; she didn't want to be pesky, not in the slightest.
((STILL NEED A MOD. PLEASE AND THANK YOU ^^)

Most of the scientists that were currently doing their research inside the Laboratory of Konika Village were far too busy with their work to notice a teenager opening the door and walking in. Luckily for Darvala, however, not all scientists chose to occupy themselves with things such as work this day. No, one of them had actually figured that sleeping was a better thing to do to pass the time.
Said Aide blinked groggily once the sound of the door closing woke him from his slumber, moving the encyclopedia-like book he had used as a cover aside to see who it was in the doorway. It couldn't be the pizza guy, not this early... As his eyes slowly adjusted to the light, the world got into focus more and more, and the Aide recognized someone he didn't recognize: a teenage girl standing in the doorway. A sigh escaped the young man as he let his eyes wander to the other desks, behind which his colleagues were working hard. Great, so this was going to be his burden to bear, after all...
"G'mornin'," he then spoke (obviously he was aware that it wasn't quite morning anymore) in an attempt to draw Darvala's attention as he got up, tried to straighten his labcoat and fix his messy, light brown hair "Welcome to the Lab, bla bla bla... I'm Wade Wilson, can I help you?"

Darvala smiled as she saw one of the aides approach her. He definitely wasn't the most enthusiastic person she'd ever met, but he would definitely do. After all, he had sacrificed his sleep to help her, right? She glanced around a few more times, taking in the hustle, bustle, and commotion around her again before he reached her. This would definitely not be an environment she'd want to work in. She hated being busy all the time; she wanted at least some free time. If she did do this job, she knew she'd work too much. It was just how things went for her.
She smiled at the 'Good morning' from the aide. Of course, it was past noon, but still... he'd probably been sleeping a while and was groggy. She'd say the same thing even if she weren't tired. "Good morning to you, too, Wade. I'm here for a starter; I'm actually looking to chance an egg," she said. Of course, she knew that Munchlax wouldn't likely hatch out of an egg, but she did like taking chances. She decided she liked Wade; he reminded her a bit of her brother...

A tad groggy still, Wade gently rubbed his eye one at a time as Darvala explained her purpose here. The aide gave her a smile, seeming rather amused as the teenager stated she wanted to try her luck with an Egg. Wade was in the process of trying to produce words, but before he'd been able to completely open his mouth, he received a slap against the back of his head.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Don't even think about," said the female aide almost threateningly, sending her co-worker a glare, "I don't even trust you with the Eggs when you're awake for a full five hours, let alone when you just woke up. And don't think I didn't see you sleeping behind that book you use to hide your comics behind."
Again, Wade opened his mouth in an attempt to say something; this time, only a look from the slightly shorter, female aide seemed sufficient to shut him up. Adopting a politer look, the young woman gave Darvala a small nod, brushing a strand of her shoulder lenght black hair from her view. "I'm sorry you had to see that. Serenity Logan, I'll help you with your Egg,"
"I could've done it just as well," Wade mumbled under his breath, rather childishly crossing his arms over his chest. Judging by the look on Serenity's face, she had heard him, but decided to pay him no attention. Instead, the woman fished a set of keys from her pockets, and motioned for Darvala (and a still pissed-off Wade) to follow her to a nearby door. There, Serenity inserted one of the keys, twisted it and opened the door.
"This is our Egg room; the temperature is higher in here to keep the Eggs warm," she explained, as warm air wafted into the main room of the lab through the now open door, "Though Eggs usually hatch on their own, sometimes they need the presence of a Trainer to hatch. Basically, you take a little stroll past the shelves in here, and I'll follow to see if one's reacting to you."
"Hmpf."
"...Fine, come too," mumbled Serenity, rolling her eyes. Wade, appearing very much like a child having gotten what he wanted after an afternoon of nagging, dropped his arms and entered the room, a satisfied look on his face when he carefully leaned against one of the many shelves in the little room. Inside, rows and rows of Pokémon Eggs were stored on shelves reaching from the floor to the very ceiling. They Eggs were very much alike; there would be hardly no way to tell them apart unless you knew exactly what to look for. Serenity fondly looked around the small room, before turning her attention back to Darvala.
"Whenever you're ready~"

Darvala was just as stunned as Wade was when he was suddenly thwacked on the back of the head. She nearly jumped, but restrained herself from doing so. She wondered what Wade had been about to say, before his attempts got thwarted- and thwacked- by this other aide.
She had to suppress a giggle as she heard what the aide had to say about his little napping shenanigan. Well, obviously he wasn't really highly respected here, but he definitely was on Darvala's like list. After all, most people she knew did, in fact, read comics or something other than what they were supposed to be reading behind a much larger, sophisticated-looking book. She even did it from time to time, believe it or not.
Darvala looked from Wade to the other aide and back again. Well, it was likely not the first time she had done that to him, by the looks of it. And, she appeared to be superior to him, as he quickly shut up and didn't say another word. "No worries. I've seen much worse," Darvala assured her. "And, thank you. Great to know yet another new face," she said, not clear of whether she was being sarcastic or serious. Wade and Serenity; their last names she would likely not remember very well.
Darvala followed Serenity through the lab, trying not to get too lost in her thoughts. She paused as Serenity fitted her keys into a lock on a door. Wow. She couldn't even remember walking here... where exactly were they again? Lab to get a starter... no, an egg for a starter... so, this must be the egg room. Shoot. She should really start paying more attention and try to have less memory lapses.
Once inside, she stared with wide eyes at the many eggs. Wow, wow, wow. Wow. That was all she could think of when she saw the room. The heat didn't bother her one bit; nothing did, really, but she was frozen in place with shock. How many Pokemon were here, waiting for a trainer to come along? How many would hatch on their own? All of the eggs, to her at least, looked exactly alike. So, there was no telling what she would get. She had expected the eggs to be a bit more... revealing. Like, at least a tinted color instead of around the same color for all of them. She felt herself moving forward and to the right to go into a random row when Serenity said 'Whenever you're ready'. "Wow. There's so many here..." she mumbled, walking close to the right side slowly, so that she might notice if one decided to start hatching for her. But... what if none did hatch for her? What if the Pokemon that did hatch, if one did, didn't like her? What if she was a horrible trainer? So many 'what ifs?'... She took took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, trying to calm her worries. She paused at the end of the row, having no luck with it. Well, let's go a bit deeper into the territory, eh?, she thought as she proceeded to the right, walking even a bit more slowly.

OoC// Sorrysorrysorry! I had to work late this weekend and it completely drained my everything. ><Serenity and Wade exchanged a quick look when Darvala stepped inside the incubator room, a rather pleased look on their faces. It was a lot of fun to see young Trainers take off with a new Pokémon, but that never quite compared to how they looked when they were shown this paticular room and it's contents. Serenity followed Darvala inside, closing the door behind her mainly to annoy Wade. He never could take the high temperature in here very well.
"...Don't our Eggs generally have more markings than this?" the male Aide questioned softly as he investigated a shelf on the left wall, thoughtfully running his finger across his chin. Serenity nodded.
"Normally, yeah. But if you look closely, you can notice the colour differences." she replied, carefully looking around the room for any sign of movement from the Eggs. It was normal that sometimes, Trainers overlooked an Egg because of their excitement, hence why Serenity and Wade were there, to see if Darvala had missed anything. Everything seemed quite, uhm... unmoving today, however. Or was it...?
"...Hey Wade, gimme a boost, will you?" said Serenity all of the sudden, her dark eyes aimed up at a shelf up high, one she was just a little too short to reach. Wade, who rolled his eyes and muttered something about her just using the ladder instead, carefully put his back against the shelves and cupped his hands, so Serenity could place her foot and climb up to reach the Egg. It was almost odd she hadn't noticed it any sooner; the Egg, that bore a greenish colour, was moving quite a lot, trembling in Serenity's hands as she picked it up and carefully stepped back onto the ground.
"I think this is the one," the female Aide said, holding out the Egg to Darvala with a smile.
"You'll want the baby to get a good look at ya," Wade added. "It helps bonding, 'cause then the baby will think you're the parent."
The Egg was trembling still, and the movements seemed to increase once the Egg was held closer to Darvala. Yes, this certainly was her Egg alright. Question was; what Pokémon could possibly be inside? [/blockquote][/blockquote]

((Whoa. Now it's my turn to say sorrysorrysorry xD I thought I had replied to this, but I guess not. MY BAD THIS TIME.))
Darvala was glad she hadn't decided to wear her hoodie today- it would have been much hotter than it already was in this room. It was quite a sight, really- seeing all of those eggs all around. How many were there, anyway? Hundreds? Thousands... perhaps even thousands? Well, she wouldn't take her time to look around the entire incubator room- as soon as she found her egg, she would be heading out. She didn't want, somehow, for two eggs to hatch because she was there.
Wade took the words right out of Darvala's mouth. She had been about to ask the same thing, but was glad when he did. She also inspected a few eggs, noticing that only if you looked close enough there would be markings and color differences. How peculiar... why was it just these eggs that were harder to tell apart?, she wondered.
Darvala watched as Wade gave the female Aide a boost. It was kind of funny, really. He was like a handy-dandy tool laying around. Right now, he was playing the role of 'ladder'. Though the female aide could have gotten a ladder to use, the egg she had seen likely would have hatched by then, at the rate it was shaking. She only hoped that Wade wouldn't be dumb enough to drop her, and that the egg would reach the ground safely. To her relief, it did, and she relaxed some, but was still quite nervous.
"Thank you," Darvala said, taking the egg from the aide. She nodded to Wade's comment, knowing that that would be a good idea. If the egg hatched in someone else's hands, it would think that he or she was its parent. Of course- it was logical of a baby Pokemon to think so. And, once it makes up its mind, it will continue thinking that for the rest of its life. Darvala's eyebrows lifted up some as the shaking of the egg increased as it neared her- so, she was the one for this egg. She gazed down at it- a greenish color. That fascinated her. Along with everyone else, she was thinking; What Pokemon was inside?

Serenity smiled as Darvala carefully took the Egg from her hands. It was a lot of fun to watch Trainers with their first Pokémon, but watching Trainers watch their first Pokémon hatch was even better. Of course, if you'd ignore all the Eggshell, membrane and other disgusting goo that were in the Egg with the baby Pokémon. Oh well.
It seemed that Wade had chosen to occupy himself with something else than aimlessly staring at darvala and her Egg, waiting for it to hatch. No, instead the male had left the incubator room to return a few moments later with a sturdy, canvas bag in hand; most likely a Starter Pack for when Darvala's new Pokémon had hatched.
Speaking of which, after Darvala had taken her Egg from Serenity, it moved more violent than ever before. It seemed that the girl's presence did spark something, oddly enough. Slowly but surely, small cracks became visible on the hard shell the Egg was composed of, and soft sounds began coming from the very inside of the Egg. This Pokémon was alive and kicking, thank Arceus. It wasn't long before the cracks ran so wildly scattered across the Egg's surface that suddenly, a green furred paw punched through the shell, the cries from the inside now more audible as the shell now had a hole in it.
"Laaaax!"
"...Dude," said Wade, his eyes having grown a tad wider than before, "If that is what I think it is... How on earth does it fit in that Egg in the first place?!"
"Shut up, idiot," Serenity hissed, prodding her companion with her elbow, "Even they're still small when they're only newborns. They grow fast. I suppose."
As wonderous as it might've sounded, it seemed Darvala's wish had come true. I mean, even the author of this post was quite surprised when she rolled this one on the Pokémon Generator. After the newborn Pokémon had managed to punch one hole, a few more soon followed, and shortly after, a baby Munchlax had poked it's head out of it's shell.
"Munchlaaa!" OoC// I swear, I used the Pokémon Generator on the Cave of Dragonflies and I got this first. Honestly.

Darvala held the egg tight, hoping that it wouldn't fall to the ground from the violent shaking that was only increasing by the second. One second she was watching the egg, and the next time she looked up she noticed Wade had disappeared. Perhaps this incubator room really wasn't his thing. But, as soon as she had come to that conclusion, he had reappeared with something that she thought resembled a traveling backpack of sorts- her starter pack? Well, that was thoughtful of him... more thoughtful than he had been the entire time she'd been here, anyway.
The cracks became more defined and more numerous, and when a green paw smashed through the egg, she jumped in surprise. Well, now that had been completely unexpected. She listened to the noises coming from within the egg, and froze when she heard the call. "Laaaax!" ... Could it really be what she thought it was? Was there any other Pokemon that was known that made that same sound? Surely not? Her legs felt like Jell-O as she watched the egg hatch even more. "Oh. My. God!" she said to herself, not believing what she saw in front of her. She hadn't missed Wade's question, and she, too, wondered how a Munchlax could fit in such a small egg. Well... as Serenity had said, they started out small and grew fast. "Aren't you a cutie?" she said to the Munchlax, beaming down at her Pokemon. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. Wow.
Well, she hadn't fainted, at least. Or died, for that matter. She was just in shock- good enough, and the better of the three that likely would have happened.
((I guess Darvala was destined to have a Munchlax for a starter That surprised me completely, too xD))
