[[◘]at last]
'Draven Rale, Pokémon Trainer. Heh. Awesome.' Draven thought, his shoes making slight imprints in the sandy path. The Lab was only a few steps away, so Draven walked faster. The doors opened, and he could see all the 'scientifical stuff' in there. 'Heh. Awesome.' An aide was coming toward him.. No, professor.. He had no clue. He just wanted a new Pokémon.

The person in question drawing towards young Draven was none other than Carloine Karmike, the (usually agitated) mentor to the newest aide in the lab. However, she seemed to be in rather high spirits on this day, greeting Draven with a smile as she approached. What caused such joy in the older aide? Her daily annoyance, Jacquelyn, had taken the day off. Young Jacquelyn was the infamous "new girl" in the lab, and she could also be a bit... careless. It was Caroline's job to keep her out of trouble and help her until she got a grip on how to do her job, which was easier said than done. However, today was the first day in a long time that the older aide didn't have to deal with such nonsense. What could be better than that?
"Welcome to Professor Aspen's lab," the blonde woman said as she drew closer, the smile lingering. "She's out at the moment, but I'll be glad to help you. My name is Caroline Karmike; I'm one of her aides. Here for a Pokemon?"

Draven saw the smile on the face of the blonded woman, and wondered if she was always this happy. "Oh, hi, Caroline. I'm Draven. And, yes, a new Pokémon is exactly what I would like." Draven smiled at the last part. He was way excited. Yeah, he was a little bit homesick, but, hey, he was starting his own life right now. 'I'll visit Mom and Dad later...' But his attention wasn't fully on thoughts about homesickness. He peered behind Caroline, and caught a glimpse of a few Pokeballs. 'Let's go, go, go, lady! He thought, not saying it aloud, out of fear of being thought of as a rude young boy.

Caroline nodded, smiling a bit more in attempts of seeming friendly. "Follow me." Draven passed complicated machinery and sketches of Pokemon he had never seen before as the aide guided him to the table in the back. There were seven Pokeballs, each red-and-white orb containing a different Pokemon and a different possibility for Draven.
"We have Iglora, Firecub, and Seaward; those are the native starters to Lanorae and are Grass-Type, Fire-Type, and Water-Type, respectively. The other four are Pokemon that can be found in other regions. Right now, the choices are Growlithe, Glameow, Ekans, and Natu." Shrugging, she added, "If none of those suit your fancy, you could take one of our Pokemon eggs and get whatever comes out. There's absolutely no guarantee what you'll get, though: It could be anything from a Magikarp to... Ahh, a Larvitar, really." She at least hoped Larvitar was a good example of a rare Pokemon; the aide hadn't spent much time studying in Hoenn.
"Take your time, I'll be here when you make your choice."

Draven walked by fancy equipment and piles of paper he never thought existed. But, then again, he never really thought about fancy equipment; he was more into learning about Pokemon. Draven zoned out, thinking about what his new companion could possibly be. 'Iglora is grass. Hm, I've never fancied grass Pokemon much. Firecub is fire-type. I like fire, but I'd have to see a picture of it, and Seaward, water-type; the same thing. Also, Growlithe is a great Pokemon, but Glameow, Ekans, and Natu aren't my favorites. And, the egg. I'm not the luckiest person, so I think I'll probably go with a Pokemon that I know what it is.' "Could you possibly show me the starters native to Lanorae? I've never seen them before."

"That'll be fine," she said as the two reached the table. She picked up the first three Pokeballs and released the Pokemon inside in turn, red light shifting and forming to take she shape of Iglora, Seaward, and Firecub. As the light faded, Draven could take in the three unfamiliar Pokemon.
Iglora immediately burst into action upon achieving freedom, cantering around the room as only a Dino Pokemon could. It let out a tiny call and looked up at Draven curiously. Firecub let out a yawn, as if it had just woken up, but then looked around with alert eyes. It began trying to pounce on the Seaward, which let out a warning growl and slithered out of the Firecub's grasp. This only encouraged the lion cub Pokemon and caused it to pursue the Seaward with more "gusto." The Seaward eventually made its way behind Draven for protection.

"Amazing." Draven blurted, not knowing what else to say. He had never seen Pokemon like these three, and liked them all. He would most likely pick one of the native starters. The Iglora ran around the Lab, as the Firecub and Seaward played at his feet. Draven laughed as the Seaward hid behind him, and bent down to stroke the water Pokemon's head. In turn, he pet the Firecub. 'The personalities of the water- and fire-type interest me. It's a hard pick between the two.' Draven pet the pair a bit more, then stood up. "I think I've come to a decision." Draven finally said, after watching the fire- and water-type starters playing. "I wish I could take all three, but I'm going to have to take the Firecub." Draven then regretted his choice. What if he'd like the Seaward better? What if Seaward was stronger. But, reaching down to pet the Firecub, his worries were forgotten. He knew Firecub was the right Pokemon for him.

Caroline smiled a bit more while watching Draven. His love for Pokemon was apparent as he played with the starters, and it reminded her of why she had become an aide at the lab in the first place: To forge friendships between Pokemon and humans. No, not everything had worked out as she hoped... but this, this was where the joy was. As Draven voiced his decision, Caroline nodded and handed him the Firecub's Pokeball. "It's all yours, kid."
Congratulations! Draven has received a Firecub!

"Now, don't go anywhere just yet," the older aide continued. She reached under the table and pulled out a brown bag, holding that out for Draven to take. "That's your Trainer's Pack; your right hand while out there. Without this and your Pokemon, you won't last. Take good care of both of them."
Draven received a Starter Pack! Pokéball x5 Potion x5 Full Heal x3 Region Map x1

"All right, you're free to go. I know you're probably itching to get out there as it is," Caroline said at last, a playful edge to her voice. "Good luck."

"Awesome, thank you!" Draven replied enthusiastically as he grabbed the small red and white sphere. He was about to say good-bye when Caroline's voice stopped him. "Oh, heh, thanks. Wouldn't get too far without this." He rubbed head, and took the bag, tossing it around his back; he put his arms through the sides, securing it on him. "Good luck." "Thanks, again. I'm so glad I've finally started my journey!" He said excitedly, turning. He called his brand new Firecub, and made his way out of the lab, waving upon exit.
ooc;;Congrats! [: And, thank you.
