"Impressive place, don't you think?"
Orothe, Benjamin's Piplup, peeped in agreement and tottered quickly to keep up with his trainer's stride. Curse these tiny legs! Benjamin Holt sighed, checked the creased piece of paper in his hands for the thousandth time -- yes, he was in the right place, at the right time, and with the correct Pokémon. (Not that he could have gotten the Pokémon bit messed up; he only had two in the first place.) He was going to have a double battle with some kid named Markl... Whatever kind of stupid name that was. He made a mental note to call his mom and thank her for naming him something reasonable like Benjamin... "Pip! Piplip!" Orothe's call snapped him out of his daydreaming: He was up next. He smiled in thanks and lifted the little Pokémon into his arms, before sauntering his way towards the entrance to the field they'd be using. It was a water field: A big pool, really, with a bunch of floats. Orothe was excited, but when he'd described it to Akala, the happiny, she had been less than amused. She was not built for swimming, thank you very much. In any case, they were there -- Benjamin at his end of the pool, waiting for his opponent, and Piplup looking around at everything with wide eyes. "Alright. Remember some of the strategy we talked about -- we won't know until we see what Pokémon this guy has, but I'm betting he has something that can swim. ... Probably should've looked him up, right? ... Akala, come on out."He pressed the release on the Happiny's pokeball and she emerged in the trademark flash of reddish light with a brief "Hap!". "Okay, you two. Not much experience, I know, but if you don't win... Hm. Anyway, just... don't do anything stupid."Good advice, right there. Breathing heavily, Markl, appeared on the other end of the pool Happiny in hand and Seaward in full crawl after him. "Please...." He gasped air mid sentence trying to correct his breathing. ".. Gimme a minute." He uttered the last part kind of fast and put together.
When the Seaward saw the water, he quickly jumped in and swam to the bottom of the pool where he watched people gather around the glass, which distorted there figures horribly. </' Look at the humans. So weird and funny shaped!'\>
Back above water Markl had finally caught his breath and put the Happiny down on the floor. "Hai! I'm Markl. This is my first battle here! I'm guessing it is yours too! Sorry I am late. I was in the wrong place." He yelled across the pool of platforms and water to the person on the other side. "Well I think since you got here first you should start." Then he called the Seaward in the water by splashing a bit.
Out of the water Bleu rose and Markl placed the Happiny, which weighed allot more than Bleu, on the Seaward's back. Bleu carried Sen to the closest platform and pushed her off onto it. Sen then crawled to the center and sat down. <"Thanks!">
"I'm ready. Your move!"

The announcer that was positioned off the side, on yet another platform, looked from Benjamin to Markl. Apparently satisfied that the two were prepared to battle, he threw his hand into the air.
"Alright everyone! This is a battle between Benjamin Holt, and Markl Somby! The terms of the battle are simple. The battle will be two-on-two, double. The first party to lose both of their Pokémon is the loser! Lets have a fair fight you two!" he nodded in both participants' directions, before turning his bright green eyes to the crowd that was gathered in the stands above ground -- and also towards those who had chosen to take the underground spectator area to see the underwater battles, via camera of course.
"Alright, lets give these two a big shout off! One, two, three--"
"BATTLE!" the final response was shouted as the stadium broke into a round of applause.
battle go! First move, Benjamin. Please remember battles are based on creativity and strategy, so use whatever you can to your advantage within reason! [/blockquote]

So Markl also had a Happiny -- and Lanorae's water-type starter, the Seaward. Well, at least they were evenly matched. Benjamin responded with a wave and a quick nod, stealing a moment to assess his opponent. He was... small, and looked young. (Which he probably was; most people didn't start their adventures at twenty like Holt had.)
Akala, meanwhile, was becoming quite enamored with the fact that such a group had gathered -- to see her! Yes, yes, this was all very nice. But that other Happiny... She would have to do something about that. She couldn't have someone stealing her spotlight, even if she was among the best of all the Pokémon. Orothe, on the other hand, was a tad overwhelmed, and stood starting at those gathered -- only moving when he needed to blink.
"Orothe, hang back. Akala, why don't you --"
It was too late to give a command, hoewever, as the Happiny had dove (or jumped, rather) into the water and was swimming towards Sen's platform. Benjamin frowned and moved to call her back -- she was a sitting duck out there in the water, what with Seaward's superior swimming ability... But perhaps she could make it. And if she didn't, well... Perhaps she could take the opportunity to counter-attack whatever Bleu threw at her, if not dodge it. (Which he doubted she'd be able to do, what with her tiny little legs.) "We'll wait for them to make a move, Orothe. Make sure to watch Akala, though, she doesn't seem to want to listen..." Darn Happiny.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Markl was stunned and in a 'On a surf board' position at the sight of what looked like Holt starting a single battle in a double battle as well as the sight of a Happiny swimming! "Happiny can swim?!" Yelled Markl at the sight. "Sen use Charm on the other one! And Bleu use Constrict on that!" He called out to his awaiting Pokémon which had already knew what the vague labellings were because, unlike Holt, Markl actually did study his opponent.
Sen stood up on his call and tried her best to Charm the Piplup with her eyes and smile. <' Hey! How is you Piplup?'> she called thinking that the Charm wouldn't work, but as she thought this small hearts started appearing and floating around Sen. At this sight pure joy ran through her which created many more hearts.
Meanwhile Bleu swam up under the Happiny and coiled it's self loosely about four feet away so he could swim closely around her and squash her like a bug. </'This is gonna work!'\> he thought as he continued to his target.

Benjamin's eyes narrowed as he watched the battle begin to unfold. Akala's brash move might work out for him, after all.
Orothe blinked, confused, as the opposing Happiny called out to him. His trainer was about to smack him for falling for the opponent -- not to mention the odd grammar -- but decided to let it go. The Piplup grinned in his usualy dopey fashion as the Charm attack's hearts encircled him, effectively lowering his attack power. <H-Hey...>
"It's called dodging, Orothe, really. Akala, look out! Use a Charm of your own --" It was too late, of course: As soon as Akala had turned and began her own attack, the Seaward had wrapped its serpentine body around her, both crushing her and limiting her movement. The Charm, at least, had hopefully done something, and Akala looked back to her trainer, desperate. "Happiny... hap!" "The Seaward can't move away if it wants to keep attacking -- Akala, use Pound! Piplup, it's time for you to move." The Happiny struggled to land a good blow on her attacker as Holt whispered his command to Orothe. He didn't want his strategy heard by Markl, even if he was all the way across the pool. The Piplup nodded and dove into the water, and Akala settled with kinda'-sorta' headbutting Bleu. Not the most effective Pound attack to be sure, but it had to be annoying. If she didn't get free soon, she'd have to worry about the possibility of drowning... But the Seaward's trainer looked too nice to tell his Pokémon to go underwater. ...Or was he? Meanwhile... With Bleu distracted, Piplup was free to swim towards Sen's platform, and, as one might have guessed, was making much better time than his teammate. With Holt's simple plan repeating in his head -- so that he wouldn't forget -- he dove a bit deeper, before finding himself directly under the platform he'd been swimming for. If your attack power is lowered, he'd said, Get Happiny out of it's comfort zone and into the water.Orothe nodded, mostly to himself, and charged upwards in a Pound attack; He aimed, however, for the edge of the platform, and not the Pokémon standing on top of it. They weren't held in place, or built so that they would be terribly difficult to flip over and, hopefully, it would be simple enough for Orothe to flip Sen into the water (much like a person on a raft is easily upturned while floating in the neighborhood pool). As he struck the underside of the structure, Orothe was surprised to find that it was quite a bit heavier than he imagined, but he felt it lifting nonetheless...[/blockquote][/blockquote]

The battle, now leaning in Mr. Holt's favor, was going way to fast for Markl. Before he knew it Sen was in the water and Piplup was in his trap. Bleu was in prime position for a sleek Leer and Pound combo. He then knew something Holt probably didn't know. "Bleu Hold onto Happiny tighter and go deeper, then use Leer on Piplup. Sen use Copycat on Piplup!" He called out to his wet friends as they swam (or sank) in the pool.
Bleu heard the command and thought genius of it. Drown the evil egg! And with that he sunk into the water and stared at Piplup. Soon his eyes started to glow a crimson red, shooting little laser like, invisible beams straight for Piplup. The Pound of the egg in his grip was no bother under the water and it did very little compared to the oxygen it was wasting.
Sen, on the other hand, was in a real pickle. Water was not very useful for her, but Copycat was. Sen, like Markl, had seen that Pound done by Piplup had water defying powers and copying that would help her allot. As she started swimming towards the Piplup with a little less speed than he did her hands glowed showing that the Copycat did work. And of Sen went shooting towards the Piplup with a small head bump.

Benjamin frowned as the enemy Seaward dove deeper, Akala still in its coils. What was this moron trying to do, kill his pokemon? He bit back a rather nasty remark and, instead, turned his anger to the battle field. All four pokemon were in the water now, with Akala mostly useless -- and close to fainting, no doubt -- leaving Orothe as his main attacker.
"Orothe! Go and help --"
<I'm coming, hold on!> It seemed, however, that the Piplup was already swimming towards Bleu; despite his dislike for Akala, he was a good soul and wouldn't sit around while his teammate was struggling. That was all well and good, but that put him directly in the way of Bleu's Leer attack. Now both his attack and defense were lowered... "Orothe, behind you! Dodge!" Being much more agile in the water, he was able to roll out of the way of Sen's attack without losing too much speed: He was still in line to hit Bleu with a Pound attack of his own. "Akala! I need you to use copycat -- Use Leer on that Seaward!" The Happiny, who had taken a big breath before being dragged under, was just about ready to give up -- but she couldn't, not yet... Eyes squeezed shut in concentration, she managed to use another attack: Copycat-turned-Leer, aimed at Bleu. If Piplup was to attack him, it would help if the Seaward's defenses were lowered -- especially since Orothe had taken a Charm from Sen. Any more time underwater, however, and she was sure to faint.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

As intense as the battle was Markl was sitting with his feet in the water thinking about swimming in the tank with the Pokémon. Only the sound of Sen coming up and taking a breath of air took him back to the battle. "Sen get on to the platform and rest a bit, Seaward throw Happiny at the Piplup!" He called out, still sitting how he was before the surfacing of Sen.
Sen, who was soaking wet and unhappy about it, climbed out of the pool and onto the closest floating platform where she was finally out of the very wet water. When able to walk and move without slipping she sat on the edge and tried to distract the Piplup with a Charm attack. Again the Hearts appeared and again they started towards the Piplup.
Bleu was smarter than Markl and knew a very better plan. He could stay under water for hours. Instead of throwing the pink thing he started to sink to the bottom of the tank as he squeezed Akala harder. His plan failed when the Piplup came towards him at a pretty fast speed with a Pound Attack. <'/This might be really bad!\'> He thought as he sat with Akala still in his coil. The Piplup was a few seconds away and Bleu had to think fast. Then it hit him like a train, not the pound but an idea! All he did was turn so the Piplup was going to hit him and Akala!
[ooc: Better? Sorry for the power playing before though...]

ooc; Okay. Late, yes, but I'd like to say that I think you're powerplaying a bit. I usually play the losing team...
But I fail to believe that your Seaward could both dive deeper and continue to bind my Happiny before my Piplup even reaches him. /:
I'll edit my response in later, once my muse comes back.
