Despite all the new discoveries that take place every day of out being, very few, in fact, can compare to the founding of an entirely new region. Even while the original regions continued to grow and populate, adventurers of many backgrounds and ages heard the call of discovery. Entire fleets set forth, with the sole goal of finding yet another new land, which they could claim for their own in addition to the fame that accompanied it.
Pokemon, of course, joined their human companions on such quests. The skies became filled with the beating of wings, and the seas boiled with the surges of fins and tails. Such a time came to be considered the ultimate migrations; one which coupled with the constant competition to be the first to discover the new lands and the riches that await within.
Such was the ambition of young Kiel Shiloh. While he had not resided on earth for much more than two decades, whispers followed his stride, hailing of his skill at the helm. His first mate was known as Lanore, a Gardevoir he had raised from her earliest stages on the high seas. Thus, it was really no surprise when word was recieved about young Kiel's search for a crew to take part on the journey to a new world.
The result was a crew of twenty, in addition to Lanore and himself, Kiel chose with his own hand. Each had his own skills to offer, and it was noted that Lanore was the only female on board the great ship, Abyss. Of course, the Gardevoir was by no means useless. Capable of telekenetic prowess, and skill in navigation, she ensured that most fatal perils had been avoided. Her aide and loyalty to the venture was irreplacable; to to such a skilled crew as Kiel had managed to gather.
Even so, no voyage was ever without its fatalities. A storm that even Lanore had not foreseen struck the Abyss, nearly floundering her and claiming many lives from the gathered crew throughout its reign. Those who were not claimed by the raging maw of the sea were wounded, and Kiel in particular had been badly injured.
Lanore became distraught by her trainer's misfortune, and it was rare for him to leave his side throughout the rest of the voyage. Many of the remaining crew of twelve thought that perhaps they were better off turning back, but every approach to do so was waved off by their captain and the voyage pressed forth.
Kiel eventually forced Lanore to return to her duties as the main navigator while he suffered from his numerous injuries alone in his cabin. But, alas, another storm had begun to brew, and panic swept through the crew as they feared the worst would once again happen.
Lanore, however, pressed on by her worry that Kiel would be harmed even more in the coming storm, gathered her psychic abilities and succeeded in erecting a barrier around the Abyss. The ship drifted in calm waters as the storm raged around the barrier, which the Gardevoir managed to hold steady for the entire duration of the storm before she finally collapsed into exhaustion.
Even as she fell, she attempted to grasp the railing of the ship, but in her weakened state she couldn't keep herself from falling into the dark, storm-churned waters. A cry went out from the sailor who had been on watch, and word was hastily passed on to Kiel as the surface was searched for any sign of the Gardevoir that had ensured their safety in the last storm, but none was found.
None, that is, except the golden shell necklace Kiel had given her years ago while she was a Ralts, which had been torn from her neck in the fall.
Clutched by sorrow and weakened from his injuries, Kiel would have given up right then and there, claimed by his tears and holding the necklace close to his chest if it haden't been for the loud, crisp call that echoed through the moist air:
"Land ho!"
The cry brought a new sense of hope to the crew as they gazed upon the marvelous, new land that was theirs to claim and explore, to name and cherish before all others. A land which Kiel named before he even set foot upon its dry lands.
Lanorae. After the Gardevoir that had been lost in her final thrust to protect those she so cherished.
And thus... Kiel Shiloh's exploration of Lanorae begins. [/blockquote]
