» Cornello . Odette . Lestat
» THE BASICS .
name; Cornello O. Lestat nicknames; Nel + Cole + Kuon gender; Male hometown; Kanto: Cinnabar Island role; Trainer age; Sixteen birthday; August 2nd
» APPEARANCE . Cornello’s tepid eyes take obvious surge on his salient façade; their transparent color and opalescence exalt his capricious nature. His staggering optics emulate the discordant shift of hues featured within lash rimmed sockets where the wavering turquoise lagoons hold as much descriptive quality as verbal recognition in regards to the boy’s candid persona. At one time they convey the timeless animation of youth with its riveting spectrum of beryl blue while on other occasions portraying a philosophical insouciance and placidity beyond his existence with puzzling tinted white.
But no matter their allure they are slowly becoming unreceptive to the world - a blindness to mire their beauty. It were as if the gods themselves were jealous of their magnificence and thus deigned it a worthy fate that he begin to lose his sight. Rising outward from the optics, the boy's other bodily attributes come off as poorly executed if not wholly incomplete.
In comparison to the embellishment of his stare Cornello is rather unadorned physically speaking. A lissome physique there is virtually no muscle mass to accentuate his form - not even an ounce of unnecessary girth. His hair doesn't meet the qualifications of the descriptive term 'platinum' but the strands are deceptively light in pigment so that under the precise lighting he would seem like such a hue. These tresses often appear significantly lighter in comparison to his skin which is only a few shades darker. Despite physical disabilities Cornello is quite tall, having just crested the 5'11 which makes him taller than his elder brother.
» PERSONALITY . Despite the hardships he faces and the bleak future that lies ahead of him, Cornello doesn't appear in the least bit concerned for what will inevitably change his life. Yes, he is gradually going blind in both eyes and soon will be unable to see. Yes, his physical constitution has been comprised and leaves him with very little stamina, endurance and susceptible to illness. He faces many depressing truths in his short life one would imagine for him to be bitter and standoffish toward everyone around him. To be volatile and unmanageable. Yet he surprise everyone with kindness and a cavity-inducing sweetness. He has a temperament that makes him easily liked among his peers both human and Pokémon alike. Although he has his moments of shyness he's generally a very easygoing character who adores company no matter what form its in. He finds no worth in dwelling on what he cannot change and makes it a priority to have as many experiences as he can before the time comes when the window of opportunity is no longer accessible to him.
Knowing his time is limited he's become a rather rash individual, head-strong and always galloping off without properly giving his actions thoughts. Cornello is forever succumbing to his impulses and has made a bad habit of saying whatever is on his mind with a scathing bluntness that can be very offensive if his opinion isn't meant to compliment. He spare no time with worrying in such moments of the feelings his words make invoke but will apologize for his thoughtlessness. The teen also has an unhealthy obsession with sweets – there is rarely a moment in his day when the boy isn't treating himself to some sugar-filled confection and typically refuses to share. If he does it's with a fair amount of reluctance.
He enjoys his candies to the extent where he's taken up cooking and has found he's a rather accomplished baker to say the very least. His pride is one of the few hindrances he faces, that and being quite the stubborn child. Having been told throughout his life that he couldn't do things he's always looking to prove himself in the eyes of his peers so that he isn't labeled as 'handicapped'. This results in him overexerting himself or putting himself in physical danger. Hating to lose he shows a darker side of himself when he finds that there is something he cannot complete with his own might and undergoes a violent change in demeanor. His joyful outlook turns inward and the first glimpses of despair radiate from him during these times. They are fleeting episodes of depression don't last too long thankfully.
The boy has unwavering loyalty and determination accompanied by a strong sense of justice.
» HISTORY . The second son to his small family Cornello was born on the Kanto regions island known as Cinnabar Island. It wasn't long after his birth where it became apparent to his family that he was not the healthiest of children and routinely had to make hospital visits in order to diagnose the problem. His symptoms being irritability, shortness of breath, cramping, and a surprisingly low white blood cell count urged doctors to keep him in the throng of children who were highly susceptible to disease. Because of this low, if not virtually inactive constitution, Cornello found himself under constant surveillance and was unable to partake in many of the things his friends were enjoying. This isolation weighed on him but he learned to cope with this sensation and wasn't completely alone for he still had his older brother – separated by five years.
As he grew up he began to resent those who refused to allow him to participate in sports, activities and all things that young boys love to do. Irked by the unwavering chains of family he began to act out and sneak away from his chaperon or simply engage in whatever he'd been told not to do. He wasn't a delinquent, just a child who didn't understand why he wasn't able to have fun like the rest of the boys and girls of his neighborhood. One day during another routine checkup another disturbing hindrance made itself known to the doctors. During the visual exam they discovered his ailing vision and immediately performed a CAT scan that affirmed their fears.
There had been damage to the optic nerve in both eyes, possibly underdeveloped during pregnancy or a bacteria that the antibiotics hadn't been able to exterminate had been eating away at the nerve. There was no method in which they could use to operate on the child and his parents were given the news that he would eventually lose his sight completely. It was a devastating concept to be given and his family soon fell into disarray until his grandmother suggested the hot springs in Lavaridge Town. The alleged healing properties were not so far-fetched and soon the family embarked to Hoen and set up a residence there. Bi-weekly treatments did seem to help with his vision but the diagnosis remained the same, sooner or later he would go blind. Now a teenager and fully aware of what was to come he made arrangements with the local grocer who he'd become friends with, to bring him all the way to Slateport where he'd enjoy his life without the stifling efforts of his family.
